the map has to be bowled in a way that hides the canvas so i'm avoiding exposing it to the sky in any serious fashion. also want to avoid having places for people to sit in comfortably which is the problem with a sloped map. will be hard to figure it out. plenty of mines have scaffolds, panels, mobile bases of operation and other equipment moutned on walls and scattered about the ground. you don't have to make the map bulkier with structure or change the theme, but if you're going with an underground excavation of some forerunner structure, you'd logically need to show that it's lived in somehow. plenty of maps in halo 4 that did that.
@Ascend Hyperion Thanks for testing it. Still tuning the pickup layout. I'll get them on Weapon Pads next time. Maybe I can color the walls differently as well. In terms of the Railgun/Sniper: The Rail has three shots, and the sniper has four. Ammo is sacrificed in favor of quicker respawn times. This increases movement incentive.

Okay doods, after a few weeks of getting pissed off at forge and myself and not coming up with any layouts, I finally got something. Which is dope cause I was getting sick of infection/remakes and I needed to do something original lol. I would never tell someone to change their map based solely on my own preferences, so don't take it that way. However, this one of those times where I think making an asymmetrical map will benefit the kind of layout and theme you're going for tremendously. I especially like "lop-sided" maps with terraced geometry, but the gameplay tends to just boil down to whatever the highest lane is if the map is symmetrical in the fashion you've gone for. If I were you (keep in mind that I'm not), I would try to make the majority of the map on one side of that large central structure that you have now. It would be closer to concept art picture you posted, and I think it would help alleviate any "lane" gameplay. I'm only saying this because you're one of the better forgers and I want all the good forgers to experiment. The better one person gets, the better the entire community gets, and so on.
Thanks for the feedback and compliments man. I'm glad you said something about it being asym, I was actually originally thinking of it but i chickened out lol. out of curiosity, how do you see the other side looking, layout wise?
if you want it to be 2v2, it has to be more like longshore to make the gameplay more dynamic and the spawning less predictable. i don't think the symmetry will afford you enough flexibility with the theme considering how the geometry is weighted.
Like I said, you could make one side a bit larger or more segmented than what you have now, and make the "other side" sort of the edge of the map. For example, you could have some catwalks and what not wrapping around the middle structure and maybe some playspace below, but not much more than that. Everything I'm saying is predicated on the "terraced" geometry thing I talked about. I like it when one team spawns on the bottom and one team on the top, and it's not just a race to the top either. A good example of this would be Arcanum and less so Legion I could potentially throw a quick, no thought layout down today if you'd like to actually see what I'm talking about
