A pretty simple question. We all have these fake internet names we go by. Why? Is it a reference to something? Is it based on your actual name? Or is it actual nonsense? I assume most people have some sort of backstory. I'll go first... 'Pat Sounds' is a blatant reference to the Beach Boys album 'Pet Sounds', which was an album recorded by the Beach Boys in 1966. It is an important album in music history because it was a break through in the way it was recorded and mixed, and it is sort of a pretentious holy grail of a record amongst the snobbiest hipster music folk. It's a really good album and I recommend it if you haven't heard it. I play guitar and bass in several bands and at some point I recorded some solo music and cobbled together an 'album' of home recordings, which I called Pat Sounds as a joke, because Pat is my real name. It took off as an inside joke / nickname amongst my friends, and that's how we got here. That's my story, what's yours?
Ryouji is a name I made up to start with "RY", like my real name Ryan. Turns out it is a real name in Japan, although rare. Gunblade is a firearm merged with a sword. It was inspired by the Kingdom Hearts version of Squall/Leon. It was intended as a title or epithet. I used to have a "the" in-between these names, but I removed it for character length reasons.
Muller is my lastname. The TJE part is a diminutive and pronounced like 'chunk' minus the 'nk'. It's gibberish in English but this screenshot here describes it better than I ever could.
There was an old thread for this, but it's probably gone, now? Rogue Shadow is the name of Starkiller's ship in The Force Unleashed. I liked the way it sounded so I used it, with Shaddo spelled like my original gamertag, ShaddoBlade, which is just something I thought sounded cool.
I used to be the leader of a clan called Ascend. Everyone in the clan had a Greek mythology figure as their personal part of the tag. I chose the titan, Hyperion, the creator of light. When I left for my freshman year of college, I dropped Xbox for a year. When I came back, the clan was no more but I kept the GT cause I liked it.
Ah, my bad if this has already been a thread...I just think it is pretty interesting to learn how people came up with these. It's sort of like a little slice of someone's personality that comes through in these stories.
Ryouji is actually the name of the main character in this super awesome anime called Toradora. It's in my top 10 list.
Hyperion is also a moon of Saturn. And the tallest tree in the world is named Hyperion. A sequoia, but it's location is a secret.
I'm crying --- Double Post Merged, Jul 27, 2017 --- Qrrbrbirlbel is from the demented cartoon movie. My own adaptation, Qrrbrbirbel, was made with my high school friends: it literally means to jump into the ground at an obtuse angle. Example, "magikarp just performed a perfect QrrbrbirbeI"
Dude omfg XD My name is kinda weird. I went through 4 really cringey gamertags before being content with this one. Keel is the first part and is simply just a nickname my friends gave me. (My real name being Kyle). Loker I honestly don't even know myself. My friend was making me a google email (cause I was really stupid back then) and for some reason he put my first name as Loker. I have no idea what that means or where it came from but I haven't changed it so I combined the two and came up with KeeLoker.
One day one of my friends started calling my Eggnog for some reason, he doesn't even know why. Thus, Egggnog with 3 g's became my online alias and everything is taken on Xbox, so now I'm ExpiredEGGGNOG
Alrighty boys and girls. Today im going to tell the tale of how my name was quite literally changed. It all starts with this fantastic 2001 Disney movie: Theres a part in the beginning of the movie where Max Keebles dad is talking about his boss, whos name is Mr Foge. The boss runs a company that wears character suits or something but my brother thought this was hilarious and proceeded to call me Foge. Heres the clip from the movie Just so happened to stick, and started using it as a gamertag not long after. 16 years later and I really dont remember a time I was called my actual name until rather recently. My parents even call me Foge for gods sake.
Honestly man Ive wondered how to pronounce your name for the longest time. This just changed my world haha. As for me, most people associate Captain to be related to captain of a ship since I like me some pirate maps or some sort of military captain. I actually chose it because Captain America is my spirit superhero... or at least thats what people say. I'm also a Game of Throne fan and wolves are my favorite animal. Hence, Dire Wolf
