No, I am not happy. I would never consider either game to be the best in their respective genres. Ever. But now I'm just splitting hairs...
The only reason that I love gears is for the simple fact: Badass. So Gory and so much blood is a lot of fun. Even without forge I will play it over Halo 3
Macka, I can compare it to anything I want. Heck, I could compare it to Banjo Kazooie if I wanted, but I'm not. Deal with it. People will not always obey, specially on the internet. As to Gears, I don't know... I didnt have Gears 1, so I don't know if I'll get 2, and 1st person shooters FTW
thats awesome! I am really looking forward to it. partly because the MP didnt do it for me. But now I see that theyve improved lots of things drastically, it makes me want to buy and play it a lot more.
Wait so you guys don't like gears because it doesn't have forge? I guess this makes sense since we are on forgehub, but not liking a game because it doesn't have a map object editor? Yeah because thats not biased. Gears is a good game because it is more strategic than people understand, sure it looks repetitive, but thats only if you play the easy modes in single player. And in multiplayer strategy is freaking everything. Its not call of duty where getting the upper hand has more to do with getting the first shot off than actually using strategy, or halo where skill is vastly determined on the weapon you have in your hand and what your team-mates are up to at any given time. No gears is different because everyone starts with basically the same setup of weapons, and all the extra weapons are either symmetrically laid out or must be fought tooth and nail over. So what does this change? Simple. Everything. If you take away the weapon advantage of a game and force players to rely on nothing else but skill and teamwork you get some crazy ass experience. The closest experience to gears you can get in halo is mlg, why? Because it strips away the weapon advantage and forces players to rely on skill and teamwork only. I'm pretty sure that there are no vehicles in mlg either (I'm not so sure but I think so there are no valhalla ctf games in mlg). Cod4 has nothing close to the pure skill relation that gears has by default or halo has with mlg. The introduction of classes gives everyone an opportunity to excel at both their own pace and to their own liking. You like sniping? Here, take a sniper, stopping power and iron lungs. You like spraying and praying? Sure have a RPD Grip with double tap and extreme conditioning. But COD doesn't aim for the same type of skill and teamwork type of game play that mlg and gears aim for. COD is more about just doing what you do well, its the reason why the entire system of that game is setup with classes and individual traits. Sorry about that rant, I'll get back on topic. Hopefully they fix the multiplayer in gears since it was glitchy and exploitable for a very long time (although I do really miss weapon slides) and maybe they can add some sort of fix for the stupid active reload on the sniper rifle (hate that thing). As for the single player, it was good to start with, hopefully they only make it better, because as it was the whole story was rock solid, and except for one small plot hole everything went together nicely. Hopefully this time they get everything right down packed.
Can't wait for Gears 2, I'm especially excited about the golf club type execution with the sniper rifle. For me at least, gears drastically improved my gameplay in Halo because it made me think about my decisions, whereas your average, everyday, Halo player will just run in guns blazing, hoping for a kill.
I honestly cannot wait for this game. I loved the first multiplayer so much I played it more than halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer matchmaking. Customs is a different thing since these are the only real fun things in Halo besides forging.
