Haha thanks boo! <3 But yes I think either 2v2 or 4v4 core contest would be fantastic. As for forge challenges, in my mind I was thinking of some sort goal to make something that was either based on time, object usage, simplicity, etc. Stuff that should challenge the forger to really hone in the skills. I think the forge challenges could be more on the lines of fun 'Sunday crossword' challenge. Something that could be either done weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly. But something that is constant and not as heavily judged. What are your thoughts on having this added to the Weekly Update?
Fun fact: Before the doubles contest I actually told war that I wanted to help judge, and he knew I wanted to judge. But he refused and the rest was history. #MaltaforMM War will never let me judge anything on this site because God knows why
What about a "public" spot to be voted on. A stage of recommendations of someone other than themselves and then a vote. Might be a cool way to have people interact in a very deep way with the site
Honestly I would not have wanted to even judge with some of the people that were on that panel. Defeats the entire purpose
Ah, well I can't come up with a good model. Hopefully there's a solution within reach here somewhere though
Why don't you just start your own contest? Why do you need Forgehub's name behind it after shitting on multiple previous contests held by the site? It doesn't affect me, but I wouldn't put the reputation of the site in the hands of someone who says such polarizing (for lack of another word) things. If War shares my view, then it's only you that is to blame for not having the opportunity. I think Schnitzel should be the sole judge.
Let's do a 'Who wants to be a judge' contest, where the winner gets to be judge in the next contest. Then we just need to figure out who's going to judge the judging contest... Any volunteers? lol
In terms of Forge Challenges, I was thinking on the lines of something like this for quite some time now.
Anyone who's talked to me knows I've been saving a prize pool for a forge contest for a while. The big problem is I don't forgehubs reach and I wouldn't want to drop several Gs on a contest only for it to fly under the radar and not get many entries. Id want to partner with forgehub or beyond for promotion. Also nothing I have ever said will be as stupid and polarizing as you defending malta. Bye kid. Seriously, forgehub doesn't have any reputation to lose, plenty of people would love to see something judged fairly and efficiently for once, minus the exterm contest that was good
Make a better model, hammer out the details, and then show us what you want to do and how you want to do it. Who knows, you might convince and bedazzle us, enough to make anyone come out and say "you're right and I'm wrong, multi, you're the best dunnedarndednest tourney holder out there tell you huwhut!"
The structure itself has been fine, I mean how many ways can one even hold a contest. My problem has always been with the quality of judging, and to a lesser extent the time frame. Maps like Malta and Hangar are maps I would look at for 5 minutes and would've likely cut on the spot. Not wasted weeks and weeks on gold level testing sessions ignoring the actual design of the map.
Yeah I think streaming the sessions has (for the most part imo) nipped that in the bud. Can't exactly say for sure, but people will act differently knowing their fans are watching (or in this case forger's ready to pounce on more than an ounce of favoritism) # robotsarepeopletoo
Outbuild and Outforge are basically synonyms in this context. I would delete the bottom one and use either one of them on the top left to negate repitition. Looks interesting, could you elaborate more?
Could always do an every growing prize pool. Start out with $100 collective and then every valid entry submitted will raise the prize pool as if the map was a bet. I say valid because I'm sure people will try to be manipulative. And obviously this isn't full proof but it's something to get the idea rolling. The main issue that I see right away would be that probaly 3/4 of submissions aren't posted until the day before submissions end, though like I suggested, it's just an idea to brainstorm. It would probably work better with a clip contest or something.
Haha you're right, it was something I threw together quickly last year when I joined the ForgeHub team. We were throwing around ideas on contests to do. This one was based on a different challenges, that had to be accomplished in a certain time frame and basically was survivor style judging. Immunity and all that crazy antics. But talking it over with the team at the time, no one had the time and dedication for something this elaborate. That's what I get for having a ton of optimism and a head full of crazy ideas.
