While driving their vision, which is WHY there hasn't been a classic playlist yet. It has nothing to do with demand from the player base. They've repeatedly demonstrated that they don't care about what Halo fans want. No BTB at launch, and no classic playlist until 2 years later are perfect examples of this.
They added things they took out back guys, they're listening. My boyfriend beats me black and blue every day but he always apologizes and says he loves me.
They are a business. Businesses dont provide a service unless they know they can make money off of it. The only way 343 thought they could make money off of a classic playlist is if it brought a substantial amound of players back. They determined it wasnt worth their time because demand was low back then. Not saying I dissagree with you, Im just trying to understand 343s point of view.
Scientists have tried to understand human stupidity for centuries and the only thing they can agree on is that it is infinite.
they listen because they want to make money, not from the kindness of their hearts. these things not being in lauch doesnt detract from the fact people were screaming for them.
Oh man...good luck with that one, lol. And saying they listen because they want to make money is nonsensical. If they really understood what would make them money, they wouldn't have made Halo 5 the way it is. Reacting when people are yelling and screaming at you isn't the same as listening. An uproar only happens when you DON'T listen.
My vote for member of the day goes to LargerFiend, and it wasn't even a hard decision today. It's been a while since there's been this much good discussion around here. All jokes aside, I do enjoy reading these types of discussions, so sincere thanks for sparking it, even if it's rustled a few jimmies.
It's probably too late because her people that are still buying halos are primarily new fans (post-h3) I bet...
From what I've seen/heard Halo was dying at Reach. That game only survived because it was Bungies last hurrah. After 343 dropped the ball with the remastered Halo CE and didn't include true remastered multiplayer, I think people plain didn't trust 343 with their beloved franchise. Then H4 came along and re affirmed that. By the time MCC was released, most of 343's loyal defenders were turned off by the horrendous launch. So yeah, Halo has been dying since Reach. Even if H5 was amazing in every way, it didn't have much of a chance. I think the only way to truly bring back fans by the masses is to design and hype H6 as a return to its roots. Old fans and new fans will both greet it with a lot of positivity. Halo was great because it filled a certain niche on the Xbox. As soon as they started adding elements from other games (Reach) is when the fan base dropped off radically.
This conversation definitely generated some pages full of lengthy reads. I haven't even gotten through everything yet, like @a Chunk said, I love seeing discussions like this. I'm never this passionate with full length explanations, but kudos to you guys.
Why are you guys thanking him he literally told me to adapt ahahah it was the stereotypical waypoint manchild argument between that and the whole risk vs reward of sprint nonsense. His stupidity just prompted competent posts that everyone already knew, which he ignored. It wasn't even a conversation
The only major issue I have with the team beyond polls being considered as a more valuable measure is the overlooked biased they have. Bias, how you say? They wouldn't want the core of Halo game mechanics to change and they prefer to remove sprint and most of all the other abilities and that must mean something cause the pro's voted too... the fundamental flaw with that is overlooked is one that most everyone here cringed at - those same kids who voted to remove the abilities are the exact people who would prefer to only play on 10 different versions of midship forever. They don't care for change or new complexity to the game. I think if they removed the stupid ground pound, spartan charge and ADS but kept the rest of the game mechanics it wouldn't be as poorly received. The side thrust on the ground or in the air timed correctly can make or break your opponents aim and get you the kill that add advanced movement to strafing. Clamber vs double jump is stupid to debate. Not every game mechanic should allow you to shoot. Think of Halo more as playing chess, would it be any fun if aside from pawns the rest of your pieces were all queens? Having a player choose which route to take (a slower ramp and shoot or - fast clamber and not shoot) adds depth to the game. I don't really care for sprint, but I do appreciate that they tried to balance it with shields not recharging until you stopped running. BTW one unmentioned one that might be a glitch is while thrusting, you can throw a grenade at the same time and it doesn't play the throwing a grenade animation. I always wondered if it was intentional. I'd trade it all for a H2 BR and Halo 3 MLG gametypes if I had my choice, no radar and self timed weapons.
Are you talking about how I tagged you about updating the lifts with the sliders. I mentioned that I tested it and it worked out well. I might have also mentioned changing the side lifts to the beam light FX thing that we have now.
