Hi there! Nice to see someone dropping by. If you’re curious as to why this thread has been made, the reason is that we want to show our Hardcore Classic inspired settings. Brief History SMARTAN 427, the original creator, made Evolved Settings because of two things; he wanted to prove that you didn’t need Sprint in Halo to feel fast, and he wanted to make a very classic inspired experience for players to jump in and have a ball. His original changes have been updated to the following below: -Movement: 110% (A fast and more reasonable speed than the excessive 120%) -Strafe Acceleration: 130% (This allowed a more powerful strafe against foes) -Forward Acceleration: 130% (Evens out omni-directional movement with strafing) -Jump Height: 120% (Spartans leap like they used to, no clamber needed) -Jump Gravity: 110% (The perfect amount of air time without too much floatiness) -Shields: 70% (Precision becomes more important) -Health: 150% (Spraying became more impotent) -Explosive Radius: 70% (Shields were lower, so Frags were toned down) -Melee Damage: 100% (3 shot Beatdown is still there) -All Spartan Abilities Removed (Classic Movement starts here!) -Frags and Plasma Grenades only! -Magnum w/60 rounds and 2 Frag Grenade (No Automatics) As you can see, he was very intent on creating something very Classic inspired, but also Evolve it. These changes made the Magnum a 4 shot kill, while keeping the automatics in the game with roughly the same kill time. However, this also made every precision weapon buffed by one less shot to kill (minus the Light Rifle), which meant the DMR and Carbine were strong contenders, and the Battle Rifle was altogether removed. While we would’ve liked just the Magnum having the 4 shot kill, this was the best we could manage. We are in agreement that the Rifles and Automatics won’t be in our Sandbox for Evolved. What will be in are, Frag/Plasma Grenades (No Splinters), Sentinel Beams, Plasma Pistols, and Gunfighter Magnums. Along with those will be the main Power Weapons, such as Rocket Launchers, Sniper Rifles, Scattershots, Grenade Launchers, Overshields, Active Camos, and Classic Beam Rifles. The Starting Loadout Evolved only has a Magnum in it’s loadout because Automatics will no longer be a part of the match. With only this weapon and its large amount of ammunition, you will always have a fighting chance each time you spawn, especially with the Magnum being a 4 shot kill to the head. The two extra Frag Grenades alongside this weapon will also need to be more precise, as the explosive radius decrease means every Frag must be thrown true. Magnum starts are about precision and quick thinking. You have much more power on your side thanks to needing one bullet less to the head. Use your awareness and skill in a match of Evolved, and you will likely succeed. The Sandbox As stated before, our Sandbox for Evolved has been focused into more niche-related weapons, along with outright removing Splinter Grenades. But even so, our weapon spawn times are a bit different from Default. Tier 1 Weapons spawn 60 seconds with 1 extra mag. Tier 2 Weapons spawn 30 seconds after they are deleted. Power Weapons 2 or 3 minutes and are on Weapon Pads. Power-Ups are on static 2 minute timers. This change instead of the original formula of Halo 2 and 3’s weapon spawns would be more ideal for Halo 5’s Hardcore Classic Variant, as it fixes most of the issues that map weapon timers had in the past, allowing for new methods of play. Respawn and Radar Our respawn times will be more akin to Classic Spawning. This means 5 second respawn for Slayer, and 10 second respawns for Oddball, Flag, Assault, Strongholds, and King of the Hill. We will not have Radar in Evolved, minus Free-For-All. Just you, your Magnum, and your skill. These changes give the impression that these settings are more about competition. Hardcore Classic fans will finally have a place where they can try playing a more Classic inspired Halo. And that is our goal in the end; to make the Classic gameplay Evolve. Drop on by if you've found a map you'd like to try with Evolved, and we can test it.
Wanted to say that we're looking at your map as a fast Slayer & Flag option. We'll have to make a few changes to the design though. Hope you don't mind us shifting things.
Feel free to check out my remakes, and let me know which ones you like so I can make dedicated versions with the appropriate weapon sandbox. Sucks about autos though, was always a fan of the Assault Rifle and SAW.
Moderately sized update this time. I'll start with the Sandbox. Boltshots are no longer a part of the Evolved Sandbox. Its power and ease of use were proven several times during our play to be just over the "Over Powered" line. Shotguns are also out, but instead are replaced with Scattershots on the Weapon Pad. Five shells every two minutes is a good balance with a CQC weapon like our Forerunner friend. Now for maps. We have removed Synthesis for 2v2. But... We now have Imminent for Evolved! Along with that, we have my map Gridwalk! These are set up for 2v2. Have fun!
We've brought back Evolved's favorites! They've been cleaned up for more consistent framerate. White Cell Bias The Pit Countdown We're also gonna be testing... Tourist Trap Cryptic Enjoy.
