There's at least one symmetrical map, but it's absolute cheeks. One side gets a huge advantage when going for GL.
It's barely asym. I'm talking completely asym. If there's side switching, there's no reason not to have asyms. Imagine how less of a quality competitive experience CS would be with sym maps only. I know it's an objective based game, but in this case, it's the side switching between rounds that allows intentionally unbalanced maps to provide a balanced experience.
So after playing Multi's key map with the Dreadnaught aesthetic I was thinking that it would be cool (and fitting to the theme) if the key was a black shard that made you look "torn between dimensions" like the jumper during the Oryx/Sisters phases of the King's Fall raid. Idk how many of you played Destiny's PvE very seriously but here's what that looks like: But then I realized you wouldn't have to stop there, you could pick up something that looks like the black shard Oryx slam his fist down and then when you got near certain "invisible" platforms, they could appear from another dimension and provide you with a new route that way. Anyways, that's my idea. Can't and don't want to forge it. Feel free to take the idea pls.
The simple fact that rounds can end within the first 10 seconds based on the initial encounter makes it hard to get right. People in general from what i played found it easier to complain about. That doesn't mean it can't work and shouldn't be tried more.
I'm concepting a map for my game set in a research facility with 2 key cards that correspond to respective areas of the map alongside a master key card. They can open certain rooms and lock down doors on main routes. I'm thinking that short range weapons would be a good way to harmonize with the key cards while long range weapons could be hindered by them (although a room could be 'de-isolated' by a key card, opening more mid-long range sightlines). It'll probably be a fairly segmented map, but I hope to heavily suggest pushing with the layout.
You know it's funny I thought of a map with doors that open for a certain player months ago. It was more a VIP type of game mode instead of a pick up but I couldn't figure out the scripting. Not really important just kind of funny. In other news, I can't think of new layouts for my life right now.
@MultiLockOn @A 3 Legged Goat What if Goat incorporated the key idea in a floaty island concept, but instead of the key opening doors, it would unlock a switch that spawned in three locations that basically flipped an island 90 degrees, essentially changing the map geometry? Kind of like the Pokemon Coliseum from Melee.
Because the more moving parts in your map the more broken it is, and rotation scripts are super janky. Cool idea though.
MS points don't even exsist anymore lmao, however I'll take 15 dollars worth of Xbox money. I could use it to buy DLC 5 for Bo3 when it gets announced/released.
