Instead of posting each map variant, I've decided to post them all in one thread along with some pictures and information. Feedback is appreciated. These bloody halls whisper of past struggles. 2-4 players Small map lovers rejoice! This map is designed for small parties of 2-4 players. From the moment you first start playing this, you may not recognize this place especially if all you've been doing in sandtrap is rocket races. The map itself is very small, with most of the action taking place in the biggest room (which isn't that big), and the hallways that branch out of it which go nowhere. Since this map is focused on 1v1 matches, don't expect to camp your way to victory. I would also avoid playing VIP or Infection as I didn't adjust the map for those gametypes. With a new weapon system and a few little surprises for both teams, Invasion is great for large parties and works well with any objective game (including 1 Flag CTF). One feature that Invasion has is a portal system that will take each team to the other side of the map with ease. If anybody remembers Relic's portal system in Halo 2, you might have an idea of what to expect here. Also the objective spawns for both Assault and CTF have been relocated to more defensive positions and will take some strategy for your team to obtain it's goal. Refuge may look like the same to some, but with a redone underground area, limited access to the underground, and power weapons at the neutral areas of the map, Refuge plays a lot better and is more enjoyable than Snowbound (and yes I'm bold enough to say that). For those who rushed to the shotgun and camped the underground in Matchmaking games, you'll have to find another strategy in Refuge as this map variant was designed for less camping and more action. Besides the usual Battle Rifles and Carbines scattered around the map, there's a few other items waiting for your grubby mitts to grab onto. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v339/Shadowsth/Halo 3/7220661-Full.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v339/Shadowsth/Halo 3/7217135-Full.jpg Games Best Played on Refuge: - Team Slayer - King of the Hill - Multi Flag CTF - Territories ==== Simulation ==== Original Map: The Pit Summary: Despite UNSC resources being stretched to the limit, maintaining this training facility is still top priority. 4-10 players Simulation is The Pit with a fresh new coat of paint. Since this is a symmetrical map designed for objective games, each base mirrors itself when it comes to weapon placement. If there's a sniper rifle inside blue base, you'll find it at red base in the same general area. Weapons in the neutral area have also been moved to different places while the Gravity Hammer makes it first appearance in my maps (to replace the energy sword and active camo). As usual, there's fire weapons on the map and a room dedicated for the pyromaniac. If Battle rifles are your cup of tea, there's plenty on the map. I'm sure you'll be able to find one that is if you don't killed in the process. Weapon placement, spawn points, and most objective waypoints were deleted and placed in more suitable places to give this map a fresh new look. Power weapons like the mauler and hammer are tossed aside and replaced with more expolsive, fiery weapons (with the ammo adjusted for balance issues). Not only are the power weapons different, but a few are placed in neutral areas of the map where both teams have a chance of obtaining the weapon and unleashing hell on everyone. Team Slayer and 1 Flag CTF are insane on this map and I would suggest trying out both gametypes. The two unique features that Evergreen provides is an additional man cannon made of grav lifts that's located right next to the man cannon that takes you to sniper tower. These dual man cannons gives the defense a chance to fight for rockets while grabbing their sniper. Since the offense is able to do this without the assistance of a man cannon, it was important to fix this small problem. The end result is something I'm really proud of (and was a pain in the ass to make). The second feature is a small wooden bridge that connects the lift and the center of the map together. Dropping down to the bottom level requires you to either blow up the bridge or find another route down. It doesn't change the gameplay too much but it adds another layer of depth to the map and shows what someone with a creative mind can do. Re: Several Custom map variants I've made. Look inside. My new map has gone through a couple beta tests and so far it looks good. When it's ready to be released I'll post it here.
Re: Several Custom map variants I've made. Look inside. There's a link at the top of the post. Can't miss it.
Re: Several Custom map variants I've made. Look inside. Wow these look like fun maps, im eager to try 'the brig'
Very nice write up, on the maps. It really makes people want to download it. Very interesting names, such as the " Brig " at first I thought you made a spelling mistake and meant to call it the Bridge.
These maps appear empty from the screenshots provided. I'm sure more effort and time was spent on the write-ups for these maps rather than the map designs. Fileshare is a no no but the post itself is good. Nice efforts.
