I really don't understand. The "actions of a few individuals"... We obviously didn't do anything worthy of locking the thread, but did we do anything worthy of deletion or banning either? What would have been different if you guys didn't lock the thread? I'm telling you right now that if our posts get deleted or we get banned for having a discussion in the waywo, I'm audi 5000.
I have to say the fact that this thread hasn't been locked shows that they're being reasonable. But I agree with Zombie. I don't even have Halo 5 installed and I haven't made a Halo map in.,..4 years? But I still get on the site to visit the WAYWO thread. Increased moderation would change that really quick.
Someone make an "Unlock the WAYWO" banner to put in our signatures along side our Free Schnitzel ones.
So let me get this straight. The mods finally do one tiny, and frankly very reasonable, thing about the toxic mess certain parts of the community have been turning into. Those parts of the community absolutely flip their **** and start posting abusive messages everywhere (including anti-semitic emoji graffiti in the discord) and attacking anyone who disagrees with them. The mods' response to this is not only to do absolutely nothing about it, but to apologize for doing their jobs and promise never to do it again. You're damn right this has been handled badly.
I'm just here for fun, I don't take it seriously. As long as there's funny memes involved I don't care what happens.
I dont think anyone cares if someone who has been **** posting for a year leaves the website. Why are you threatening to leave when you dont even talk about Forge? Ill gladly see myself out right now. There are healthier ways to waste time than arguing over a dead franchise.
Why do people seem to act like this is a progressive thing? Flamewars happen. They always will happen. But, the fire burnt out. The discussion was once again civil. Discord isn't Forgehub. It has no rules or guidelines to abide by. There's nothing mods should do to punish what people say on another platform. The only apology is that it wasn't addressed earlier. There were no promises. You are blowing this out of proportion.
The FH Discord is operated and moderated by the FH staff, and by all accounts except yours it does have rules that are supposed to be enforced. The only blowing out of proportion here is the reaction of certain people to WAYWO being locked, a reaction which has, quite frankly, cast the FH community in a staggeringly awful light.
It's laughable that you actually think FH is cast into a dark light over us wanting to unlock the WAYWO. Dude, seriously you are blowing it out of proportion. You seriously think we are pushing people away from our site with this entire situation? Geez.
The only input I have on Discord moderation is the same as any other person - I can report something I feel is breaking the rules to the staff. They decide whether it's actionable, and if so what action to take. If they agree with me, then they agree with me. Edit: this is something I have done twice, ever. Once when I was personally and specifically attacked, and once when people were adding anti-semitic and school shooting related emoji to messages. The second incident has not been addressed in any way by the staff. Wanting WAYWO to be unlocked is fine. The tone and manner of the expression of that desire has not been fine. It's been shite. Absolute shite. Childish. People did a bad, they know they did a bad, and they're still mad at other people because they got punished for doing a bad.
I see both sides of the equation in this matter. On the one hand, I prefer sites that have virtually no moderation. On the other hand, I think most of the established members here underestimate how much of a turn-off some of the behavior both in this thread currently, and in WAYWO and other threads, is to some people. I think a lot of currently active members also underestimate how many people are hesitant to get involved in the community because of it. It's kind of a no win situation for the staff. I would hope there can be at least a little bit of understanding if they follow through with a tiny bit more moderation, specifically in the WAYWO thread, which is really the best entry thread for new members who want to show off their forge projects to their fellow forgers.
Let me clarify the fact that we just did that for fun and it had nothing to do with this. You being a baby over something as dumb as emoji reacts is something else. "He personally attacked me" sorry for hurting you with emoji reacts, i'm sure you feel like quite the victim. #Feelingshub
