So here I am a few beers deep, doing my bi-weekly routine of going through all of Ultimate Halo and Greenskull's YouTube videos and downvoting them. And I keep hearing the premium announcers 343 just added to Halo 5 that these chumps spent money on. So I thought to myself, how would I better do microtransactions? I'd bring back the Halo 3 file share where you could upload screenshots and clips for everyone to see (why the **** was this removed) and give everyone 6 slots by default. With the option to pay $5 and expand it to 25 or 50 or whatever the **** you want for a year. Just like Bungie did with Bungie pro. Also, let people rent their own servers monthly like they do in Battlefield. They can name it, set up a string of maps to autoplay, all that jazz. Also, bring over the COD emblem creation system where you can draw your own emblem, but for a small fee we could choose where to paint the emblem on our armor and how big we want it. I wanna draw a ****ing Siamese Cat and put it over my helmet so they think "Holy **** it's a 9 foot robot cat is running at me", but no it's just me, master chef, all along. Throw out some ideas. I'm sure you guys can think of a few
You're right, asking money for file sharing slots really captures the essence of Halo. I'M SO IMMERSED
I'd rather give people good fundamental features like a file share or file browser and then give them the option to expand that functionality if they'd like, not many people even used more than 6 slots anyways. Rather that than compromise the art style and visual identity of every weapon.
I can't think of anything. But I'm oldfashioned, I hate microtransactions in almost all forms. They can **** me in the ass for that 60 bucks once but that's it. I will not spend a dime pure out of principals. Next thing you know canvases, overlays, pieces...wow I don't even want to think about it. And excluding peeps from whole playlists because of the lack of map packs is also a **** move. Awful. Sorry, but I'm oldfashioned like that. Still can't think of anything...
If you're oldfashioned than you'd love excluding people from playlists because of map packs, because that's what they used to do all the time. I much prefer the new system of free maps and allowing dumb people to buy ugly skins.
Hmm... $60 for a complete game, with an entertaining story, a plethora of gametypes, and a map editor from launch? That's the only valid transaction I can think of. Maybe a map pack or two, but even then they should be no more than $5. Youtube = Reddit
No I don't. With oldfashioned I mean getting a product that's worth every penny, created by people and companies who put their soul in to it. And not in the hands of big moneyhungry studios who flip anything over for all your cash. My opinion also works with other things, look at the quality of games, movies, music or any other form of entertainment nowadays. So with olfashioned I mean old lol.
I'm over microtransactions, you can make an argument for both sides of the coin but like i said, i'm over it. It's here to stay, might as well try to improve it. I ultimately agree with the OP, esspecialy the servers! The open custom lobby update is amazing, but falls short when you want to play a legit start to finish game of 4v4 slayer all community maps. People leaving and joining constantly, having to start the game and skip the initial rush of the game and wait for the lobby to fill up.
I agree with your first idea... However it will make very little money. The cod emblem idea is a great idea... and you should be forced to purchase a layer pack say for instance 5 layers = 2 dollars. I like the idea of charging for DLC maps... However, the more time you play the game the cheaper the dlc pack is... Young kids that don't have a job play more halo (therefore get it for almost free) opposed to the full time working individual who can afford spending money on the game. i like the idea of charging people to reset states... I know a lot of sweti players who reset states... why not charge them to do so.
Games cost money to develop. It's unrealistic to expect it to continue to get support for free. There's obviously shady gray area when you can buy large XP boosts and weapons to make the game easier, but I love good cosmetic **** and I don't think it's bad to pay for more of that. I've spent $40 on dances in Destiny and I don't regret a single one (unless they don't carry over to Destiny 2... then there will be blood). Halo 5 has literally the worst implementation of microtransactions though. You pay real money for packs that are completely random and you can only use its contents in Warzone, where you are just as likely to die as soon as you use it. Who the **** is going to pay money for something like that? At least I know what i'm getting in Destiny. Overwatch is bad too but not as bad because you can keep it. You have to look at it this way. Would you rather have cosmetics unlockable via investment systems and pay for map packs that fragment the userbase, or would you rather have free map packs and pay for cosmetics? As far as your idea goes, I personally hated Bungie Pro. I can't believe they got away with charging $10 and then additional render minutes to allow us to download our theater clips.
For the record I'm not attached the file share idea at all it's just something I thought of that could be an additional source of revenue without compromising any part of the game. I love the idea of additional announcers if they actually did them correctly. Johnson, cortana, the arbiter, not ****ing Buck --- Double Post Merged, Dec 23, 2016 --- That one Cod game with snoop dog as an announcer was hilarious btw
I would allow players to bet REQ packs before match start. Winning team takes all. Just made the game 20% cooler in 10 seconds flat.
You mean req points. How would you distribute a req pack. Come on war get your head in the game. Also quit bans are stupid. Just take like 5,000 req points away. People would never quit lol
