    Hello everyone,

This month we’re back with another site update. This update adds a major new section to our Maps page: Pre-Fab support! You can now add your pre-fab to the site, and it’s the same process as uploading a map – just use the category “Pre-Fab”. You can also view the new Pre-fab page right now, and use all of the features available to a map page – like, comment, share, etc.

    To Upload Your Pre-Fab:

    pre-fab.JPG
    1. Use the new dropdown menu to access the Pre-Fabs page.
    step 2 prefab.JPG
    2. Click "Add Map" to add your pre-fab.
    final step prefabs.JPG
    3. Make sure to select "Pre-Fab" as the category when submitting. Fill out the appropriate info and you're done!

    NEW STAFF MEMBERS

We've also welcomed two new staff members who will be helping out a bit around here - Ray Benefield and Paints! They've written a little bit of an introduction for those who don't know them.

    Ray Benefield

"Where to start, the name's Ray. Some of you know me by my old GTs, AZN FTW and GodlyPerfection. I started in the forge scene when I was 19 so I had a lot of maturing to do (I'm 28 now). I started with the original Forgehub crew, back when we were a blog and not a forum (blast from the past here: http://web.archive.org/web/20071025095730/http://forgehub.wordpress.com/). So I literally started with Forge day 1. Since then I've been a part of most of the major forging groups, got several maps in matchmaking, and was asked to join the Community Cartographers as 343 Industries took over from Bungie. I founded the Creative Force team a year ago with the idea that no one person should have to do everything for a single piece of content and you should only do what you enjoy. As a career, I'm a Software Architect and Lead Engineer. I write code that is meant to scale for millions of users, but can also be easy to maintain and add features to. I'm attempting to find time here and there to use these skills for the good of the community in the form of CAPI, but so far most of you see it as an empty promise. :p We can only hope it will become more than that.

5 years ago, I wrote a 50+ Forge Lessons (http://www.reachingperfection.com/p/forge-lessons.html) series of bite sized topics introducing ways to explore design. I'm back with the Forgehub crew to do a similar thing as a writer and staff member. With my 2 hour commute up and my 2 hour commute down. I've found time to write and code offline on the train. I will be introducing a new series in a couple of weeks called Design Vectors that looks to explore design from a broader sense of product design/development and how it can be tied into what we do as a hobby. It's target is the entire game design community throughout the internet so we are hoping that it attracts new forgers to the scene and our community. I'll be taking what I learned and was missing from the Forge Lessons, and adding things like interactivity, media, and references. Between Forge, Software, and Management there is a lot that I've learned in almost a decade and I'm hoping my experiences can help others grow. I look forward to being of assistance to a community that I figuratively watched come to life."

    PA1NTS

"Hello Forgehub, PA1NTS here. I guess it's official. I've joined the ranks of the staff around here. It's kind of amazing to think that I discovered this site about 8 years ago not knowing that forge would evolve in such a way, and completely unaware of the network of dedicated gamers I would eventually meet. From that first day I began lurking here to where I am now has truly been a journey.

Most people have come to know me as an infection enthusiast, and rightfully so. Something about infection has drawn me in as it's one of the most unique gametypes Halo has to offer. My passion for designing infection maps and gametypes has made Halo a huge part of my daily life. As this process of wanting to consistently improve my design skills continued throughout multiple Halo titles, I felt it was only natural to start to capture what I had learned along the way and start to share it with the rest of the community.

Fast forward to now, it was that decision to create content that has given me the opportunity to join the ranks of the Forgehub staff as a member of the video team. I'd like to thank Warholic for this opportunity. God damn, the orange feels pretty good.

Although I won't be doing a lot of writing or journalism for the site, my contributions fall under a different category. That would be the Forgehub youtube channel. I've been a part of the channel for a long time now. Although we've had some lineup changes lately in terms of content creators, I hope to oversee this transition smoothly and keep producing quality forge videos for you guys to enjoy!

    Cheers,
    PA1NTS"

Welcome again to our new staff members. We’re really excited at what cool creations we’re gonna see be made, and you can bet we'll be featuring some cool Pre-Fabs on our Twitter page, so be sure to follow that, and stick with ForgeHub for more community content and features.

    Happy Halo-ween!

If anyone has any feedback on the new Pre-Fab section, and ways we can improve it, please let us know in this thread.

If there's a way to add "Type" to the submission page for Pre-Fabs,
that would be really helpful for searches.

What I mean is; Have a list that you can select a Pre-Fab type from.
      Something like this:

      Select (1) from the List:
      -Prop (Aesthetic; for Background etc.)
-Prop (Functional; for Battle Zones etc.)
      -Prop (Scripted)
-Structure (Aesthetic; Backdrop Buildings, Monuments, etc.)
-Structure (Functional; Rooms, Halls, Team Bases, Power Positions, etc.
      -Structure (Scripted)
      -Vehicle (Land)
      -Vehicle (Air)
-Function (Scripted; Animated Scene, Working Drop Pod, etc.)
      -Lighting (Torches, Lamps, Candles, etc.)
-Natural (Islands, Formations, Custom Natural Pieces, etc.)
-Art (Forge Paintings, Pixel Art, Sculptures, etc.)
      -Other (Be Rebellious!)

This would be helpful for everyone, because it also inspires forgers to
make something from your list! This is only a suggested set of options
      for an example :)

I like this idea a lot. However, for each green thing, I think it could be simplified down to categories, you know? We only have so many spaces with the site structure that can be filled, so having a lot of categories may not be ideal. The Pre-Fab section is still somewhat of a work-in-progress, however we wanted to get something out to you guys as soon as possible.
