Taking advantage of shield walls to create domes you could see all the movement taking place but not necessarily be able to interact till up close. IMAGE: TAGS: Sci-Fi, Industrial, Mars, Desert, Factory LAYOUT: 3-Lane, Room Based, Terrain GAMEPLAY: BTB room based structure with a large terrain ring for vehicle pathing. Theme looks very easy to pull off with basic UNSC props IMAGE: TAGS: City, Water LAYOUT: 3-Lanes, Room Based, Catwalk GAMEPLAY: Tight corners with open paths to other areas. Tags: Underground pipes, Sewer, Sub level. Layout: forced pathing, Hallways, Confined Gameplay: Good for close quarter combat and directing flow. Also good for just adding that little extra detail to a map.
Not visually inspiring but... Asymmetric. Strongholds. BTB. Maps. Please! Trying to put together a list of maps for use in a BTB tournament is a real struggle right now unless you pretty much just want CTF tourneys.
TAGS: Modern, Futuristic, Halo Ring, Water, Natural LAYOUT: An exact copy of the picture could probably be a cool setting for some sort of air vehicle mini-game or something, but the art and architecture style combined with some of the further details as skybox in a competitive map would be awesome. GAMEPLAY: You could integrate some tall natural pillars into the map to create some interesting vertical encounters. TAGS: Shaolin Temple, Japanese, Mountain, Asian, Chinese LAYOUT: Some sort of mountainside map that utilizes the Asian architecture to diversify natural terrain, of which the map could heavily be designed and constructed with. GAMEPLAY: A small, tactical 1v1 or 2v2 map with tight, vertical encounters in a few key points.
TAGS: City, Metro, BTB LAYOUT: Asymetrical with lots of donuts GAMEPLAY: Could be a nice setup for a vehicle focused BTB map. Structures seem simple enough that large sight line blockers wouldnt be too much of a budget killer TAGS: Market, Desert, Cliff LAYOUT: 3-Lane GAMEPLAY: Long center atrium with room based and multi paths on either side TAGS: Market, Atrium, Dome LAYOUT: Roombased, Catwalks GAMEPLAY: Cool theme. very flexible
I'm taking inspiration from these places for my map TAGS: European, Ancient, Old, Open, Dome, Church, City, Urban LAYOUT: Circular, mostly open spaces with arcades and some corridor GAMEPLAY: This is only an aesthetic theme and can be used in any way you want
This seemingly endless structure at MCRD San Diego has always been an inspiration for me, but it would be impractical as part of a map.
