At least Breakout brought in some nongeneric designs for matchmaking, no matter the level of playability they actually had. We could see some more unorthodox/original designs be used in the upcoming maps being chosen. You never know what'll happen until it happens, I guess.
I'd love to see Breakout get a fair shake, but the game mode needs setting changes and for the love of god, let people make maps without that "10 year old boy's first science project" aesthetic
A 1 life game mode will never work in Halo. Most of Halos depth comes from how you manage cycling the map, the power weapons, how you predict and trap spawns, how you react and move off of a respawn, how the game progresses. That all goes out the window when you have a 1 life game mode, which historically have only thrived because of their excitement factor and difficult gun play. Not depth. Halo has easy gunplay, long kill times, and most importantly recharging health. It doesn't matter what you do with the complexity of the level design, it's just not going to work.
It works just fine. It just belongs in a mini game playlist or on rotation like the rest of the non traditional gametypes. That 343 thought it was good enough to market it as a premier competitive mode of Halo 5 is puzzling to say the least. Then again, their track record isn't exactly good when it comes to innovation. Anyone remember Dominion? Exactly.
343 totally did not steal Tyrant from me. Anyway I posted this on Team Beyond's Forge forums a while ago. It's a pretty generic 3 point symmetric arena map and I had variations on the design. The layout is boring to me, but the geometry was pretty technically impressive back then because Forerunner was difficult to pull off. Right now, it's probably just another symmetric forerunner donut people don't want, but if the layout looks interesting to enough people, maybe I'll throw it together again and fix it up.
goat random sketches incoming. most of these are super sloppy and I never finish them, but **** it. i'm sure there's a map in here somewhere. this could be dope i actually built this in MCC. might work with an epitaph layout this was a cross section for a jackal creek remake hmm... getting this to play well is beyond me say sanctuary again, i double dare you motherfucker no clue what was happening here i quite liked this idea yasss OG Spellbound
Happy Land has become Happy World This is my sequel to Freakshow. Currently this version is over-scaled and would work better as a BTB map then Infection, and thats if I can finish on budget. So, consider this a tease for the the look of the map. Now the long process of rebuilding it smaller
All this talk of forge make me want to make a map in Murder Miners. Might finally approach this pain in the ass: @Goat: Would you be down to draw a picture of one of my maps for me? Your concept drawings are really nice.
Tried my piece at just some atmospheric stuff with the music and some still videos. Maybe someday I'll learn to actually use Sony Vegas studio. Make cool fancy things. Maybe even make some sort of ODST overlay like it's the Superintendent cameras.
I've thought about doing sketch commissions for maps at some point in the future. I'm not confident enough in my technique yet to offer it up, but depending on the map I could probably sketch something out.
Indeed it is. My final product almost always has changes from the initial sketch. So that could change. Or not. Hater.
Sooooooo @Res has some pretty sick remakes coming along. Really like the Sanc remake (although I hate Sanc remakes as the community will gush over them and try to push one for HCS), and her Guardian is aesthetically stunning. Guardian probably has too much attention to detail going on though, which is impacting fps performance.
Who are you and what have you done with schnitzel, you're saying nice things, schnitzel doesn't do that.
Feel like I remember this design, or at least the map you were intrigued by at the time that inspired it. Hearth maybe?
