So I've been trying to get multi to change his "Doom rocks" in the middle of Oblivion to a structural bridge since the inception of the map. I've always thought the rocks created severe readability issues, so I've decided to throw together a test version. Multi likes it, but isn't sure. Help me convince him! The "Doom rocks" aaaaand the structural version Thanks for the help! EDIT: Here's a walkthrough of each version. http://xboxclips.com/xXandrith/76841475-557a-4491-840e-d40a52b29654 http://xboxclips.com/xXandrith/e44108dc-e35e-4e9f-8190-4ee06e936b77
Structural version looks better, and actually looks more natural within the setting than the 'natural' version does.
The structure looks better but I think I preferred the "doom rocks". They were the rocks that started it all after all
Positives and negitives of both, for the sake of a counter argument... Rocks • Blends better with the surounding natural terrain • Can easily fine tune lines of sight • Rocks are less punishable, providing more room for footwork • Readability issues can be fixed by adding more visual cues, lights, trim, etc Bridge • Offers aesthetic flexibility • better readability I'm falling short with reasons for the bridge, i personaly think the rocks look better, and prefur more dance floor space. Especialy on an already tight layout
The rocks do blend in nicely, just a little too much for my taste. I've never been one to complain about readability very much, but this case is pretty extreme. As for the lines of sight, I think it can be just the way multi wants it with either. I personally like how it's opened up a bit to provide for a little more fights across the pit. This allows players to find there own way, instead of fighting through the strict, predetermined lines of sight.
The bridge draws your eye a bit more, and if you were running near the rocks you might not notice them as a viable option. Maybe if you had them floating on chains or something, but I don't know the full story of your map.
Structural. Looks more natural with the map. Still can't get over how cool this map theme is. Gonna go read more fantasy books now.
