You know a map is bad when you re-skin a a disc map with a new theme cause you don't have any new ideas.
See, even if this is a joke, this is why the rest of Halo players can't stand forgers. It's treated as such an elite club that it might as well be part of the Covenant (see what I did there?). Yeah, I have fun with the maps I make. That's kind of the point in having a map editor in the first place. If I have to reach some kind of standard to be counted as a forger, then I can tell you right now that I wouldn't meet it. I wouldn't even try. I wouldn't want the kind of company that comes with it.
Oh, you're one of those... Calm your **** bro I was just playing. If anyone can read that post & feel like I'm an elitist then they need to suck it up & quit being a 3 year old. I haven't made anything worthy of attention in years, the last couple games so even, so I'm obviously not elite. If you can't take a joke for a joke you shouldn't be on the internets.
Fair enough. I've had little experience with this site, and I'm still not sure what to think of it. My experience with the upper echelon of forgers has been generally negative. My comment was directed less at you than at the tone of 'professional' forgers. Sorry if this came off as aggressive, but I stand by what I said. I have no time for elitists. Anywho... You know it's a bad map when: - All angles are at 90 degrees. - There's one type of tree... but three hundred of them on the map. - You spawn in on the smallest Forge Island... and the objective's on the biggest. - "I was going for a 'Ghostbusters' theme, so there are Spartan lasers everywhere."
A lot of those "elitists" you refer to are the very same guys in this exact thread poking fun at each others maps. They really aren't bad guys and if you put effort into your maps, everyone will notice it. I like that you understood and added to the thread, yours like most in here were quite comical. You know it's a bad map when you load a 4 vs 4 arena forge map and people ask if you meant to load infection or race gametype.
Who the hell are "professional" forgers? All I see in the forge community are a bunch of fans of Halo being dicks in a more creative way than other Halo players. Oh, uhhh, you know your map is bad if it doesn't generate light properly.
Is there something wrong with that? It would be nice to have players who compete at a high level designing maps. Everyoneeeeee hates midship. Is it because it works and can support so many gametypes.
Better than 90% of maps on this website. Except truth, you guys can make better maps than truth.. This guy posts midship like it's some sort of insult lmao. Midship is goat, hell I think Onslaught and Amp are still better than half the maps pumped out here
Being a master swordsman doesn't make someone a master swordsmith. While it would be fun to see their design ideas for a map it doesn't mean they'll be higher quality maps than what non-pros can design and create. Midship is not a bad map it has just been remade and copied into oblivion for "competitive" maps. The joke was that pros are likely to give us more of the same as they take inspiration from their favorite maps, which Midship tends to be at the top of the list for many. See above for Midship explanation. Good to know that Midship is such a sensitive subject around here, I'll try posting Lockout and its multiple versions next time to see what happens.
Oh, I meant like having a competitive forge circuit set up like cooking shows. You're given a theme, object count, and time limit, that kind of stuff. Highly silly
