OMFG, Skate 2. Announced. check this out I cant wait. I loved skate. so much. I was god-like at it. I am so pumped for skate 2. The Tony Hawk games are dead. ARGH, so excited.
Never bought skate., but I can see myself buying skate2. It's a good skating game, TH is definitely dead. People want realism and quality graphics in their games now. Tony Hawks offers absurd skateboarding and stupid gimmicks and even more idiotic story lines. What the hell made the TH team think of adding a story line to a skateboarding game? Anyway, skate. FTW!
And one thing that the th games really lack is (realism, of course) but momentum. You can suddenly go top speed in a few seconds, just by pushing off and when you ollie, its like 3 metres in the air, I mean wtf. How can a skateboarder defy gravity. Also, I wasnt talking into my ass about how good I am. Although I havent played in a couple months because the disc is screwed but when I played online, I raped. At the end of a jam session I can remember being on a score upwards of 40,000 and the second place was like 7,000, and the guys I was playing against were like "WTF, man how'd you do that" so I'd say "Im just awesome". Also on a spot challenge I got something like 8,000 and second was 2,000. I love skate. so much. it is in my top 5 games of all time. Edit: 9 posts left
I liked Skate, but Tony Hawk games always have a place in my heart; They may have been unrealistic, but Nobody cared, all we cared about was high scores and getting the secret tapes; Still I can’t wait to see what Skate 2 is like.
The problem with the realism is true in how you said it. Nobody cared, as in past tense. But now with the technology there to be able to make it as real as possible, that's what people want. True it was the best skateboarding game, mostly because it pretty much had no competition. But now there is something much better =D
I never really acknowledged that. Yeah everyone loved it because they had no choice, there were no other skating games. When I first played the demo for Skate I fell in love with it instantly. 2 Posts Left
Very true, I myself love the way Skate is, cause it feels like you are really on a skateboard timing your tricks and grinds just right so you can land them. I myself skate and I can really relate to this game.
Skate was cool but what stopped me from playing it... (its still on my shelf) The ****ing pedestrian AI was so frustratingly ****ed up. I mean, granted im not "god-like" at the game, but it annoyed the **** out of me to be trying to nail on a trick on a certain rail a few times, and then when i finally land it and do something sick, I'm all like "Hell yea!" and then OH LOOK some random person is standing directly in front of the rail where i come off it and KaPow super intense slow mo crash... That **** made me so mad i never got further than like 5% in the game.
I hear that. I remember that challenge where you have to jump through that hole in the wall, took me like half an hour. I screwed it up the first few times but then I went through it perfectly but hit some old lady. She pretty much refused to move her old ass. Every time I thought she was gone, she magically came back. Other than moments like that, the game, for me, was perfect.
