Hello, I am currently a student studying Games Development. I have taken a big interest with creating my own forms of concept designs for Halo 5 Competitive maps. Starting of with sketches, I have now slowly developed some concept 3D models of a couple of my designs.

The main reason I am writing this thread, is because I'm looking to use my concepts to collaborate with forgers, giving them my designs for them to create a final design. My map designs are more made for the competitive side of Halo 5, so I would be interested to see how they play out in the competitive game modes.
I am also looking for advice as I want to show people my designs so I can be given feedback, but I don't want any of my designs to be copied. Also to see what other people think I should do with my designs? I've tried using forge myself and its not really for me as I'm too used to using PC software's such as 3DS Max. So would be reaching out to confident forgers be my best option to getting my map designs created to a good standard?

    Thanks, Impure

With any art, as soon as you let anyone see it, you run the risk of someone taking it. The only way to keep your secrets safe is to never do anything with them, which is stupid. Just get them published. The community is pretty good at understanding who the original author is, so don't be afraid.

Also, you'll never get the chance to test them unless you expose them to a testing pool, also forcing you to reveal your secrets.

You should store the things you make in a portfolio if you're interested in showing them to others in the future (an employer). Xbox has a game DVR feature that lets you easily take screenshots and videos to add to your One Drive.

Part of design is being able to learn the tools. 3DS Max won't be around forever, so learn to branch out a little.

Basically just man up and do it. : )

Cheers man. Thanks for giving me this info. I'll be sure to start sharing my ideas and hopefully people take interest to what I've designed.

Hopefully working with other forgers will teach me a lot about how to design using the forge.

Thanks a lot though man, helped me a bunch on how to move forward :D

You're in luck. This forge is coming to Windows 10 so maybe you can bring your ideas to life on PC.

I appreciate the level of enthusiasm you have about level design. You are new to this forum so I would suggest publishing something that shows your potential, whether it is a 3d model or just a paper sketch. It is hard for people to get interested without a portfolio. Especially when it comes to concept artist, which is very different from level design.

Level design is the physical play space player engage in, and around, while concept art is an aesthetic theme that can be applied to virtually any design. I am incredibly passionate about both of these practices, so I take the matter fairly seriously.

I would love to see some of your work, so I urge you to post your designs here.

Thanks, I will be sure to build up my portfolio and share it on the forum.

I'm also very passionate about Level Design but I'm in the middle, I love to come up with concepts, but I also love the idea of being able to design levels using software such as 3DS Max and forge.

My concept art is a bit different. I do the usual sketch to start of my idea, but using 3D Builder (Free Microsoft Software) I'm able to design a rough 3D Model of how I'd like to have my level structured. I don't really focus on the aesthetic side of my designs just yet, as I'm more interesting of how my levels will be structured.

But thanks for your insight, I will definetly take the things you said into consideration!
