EDIT:Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the BTB Heavies gametype.

Something that I feel is missing from Halo 5 is heavy vehicle based Big Team Battle. Most of the maps in BTB are made for and with light vehicles and infantry play in mind. For example, I don't think there's actually any scorpions in the entire playlist, and when there is a wraith, there is only one on the map. I recall past games having maps where both teams get heavy vehicles to use, and I believe it was quite fun. I would love to see a map for example (not saying this vehicle set would play well) where each team gets a scorpion and a mantis with a neutral phaeton on the map (and assorted light vehicles.) I think it would add greater variety to BTB, and it'd be great fun to use those rare vehicles more often.

It's almost strange that none of the community BTB maps so far have been heavy vehicle focused. I think it might be that designing a great light vehicle map is easier than designing a great heavy vehicle map. What do you guys think? Do we need some maps like this in matchmaking? Are maps like this even any good?

I've noticed this since I've started to play Btb recently. They really do need at least one or two maps where you can jump in a wraith or a scorpion and battle another equivalent vehicle or light infantry vehicle. I believe one of the reasons is because many forgers don't generally build with heavies in mind as it is harder to create a balance between infantry and the heavy vehicles.

I actually enjoyed the Heavies playlist from H4, despite constantly being blown to bits out of nowhere. I wouldn't mind seeing an Exiled remake/update. Is Exiled the one I'm thinking of?

Meh. Heavies has always been an awful experience in my opinion.

That said, I do think that the current BTB playlist does tend a bit too far to the light vehicle side of the spectrum. I wouldn't mind seeing one map at least where both teams get a Wraith and an aircraft in addition to the usual light vehicles.

Part of the problem though is that the Warthog is so useless in this game. It can't compete against infantry let alone hold up to other vehicles. Because of this there's no longer a bridge between infantry and heavy vehicles that allows them to coexist comfortably.

Keep in mind that I'm not talking about the BTB Heavies gametype. That gametype puts numerous heavy vehicles on maps they may not work well with. I'm talking about maps made for heavy vehicles. There's currently what? 12? BTB maps in matchmaking, and none are the bigger, heavy vehicle type kind of maps.

While I don't care much for that style of map myself, providing variety in terms of map scale and vehicle set was an important goal for us in the recent BTB task. The only vehicles not currently in the playlist are the Scorpion and the Phaeton. Banshees, Mantises, a Wraith, and both 'heavy' variants of the warthog can be found throughout the playlist. Still, a bit more variety would go a long way. My challenge to forgers, then, is to create a map which does an excellent job of supporting a Scorpion or a Phaeton.

Yeah, I'm agreeable to any option where we get more heavy vehicles to mix things up a bit. I guess we don't have a way to add extra vehicles to our maps and let the game settings determine which ones get used. Is that right? But we can always do a save as and add heavier vehicles.

    Edit:
That's the stuff! I'm not even familiar with using Phaetons (wonder why!), so it's difficult to think of how to incorporate them, but I'd be grateful for a chance to get familiar with them in the Arena playlist, if someone would be inclined to make that happen.

I have always felt vehicles were the heart and soul to BTB which was why some of the maps that launched with the Arena playlist didn't feel great to me. Variety is always nice though and I've come to like some of the more infantry-focused maps.

I've had an idea for a BTB map with a Phaeton for awhile so if I ever find the motivation to jump into a BTB project I will give your challenge a shot. However, I should probably finish another map I started first....

I think we should have them in. It just makes it funner. I will always try to add heavy vehicles to my Forge maps.

Every once in a while, I like to play with ALL my toys. Fun explosive, screamingly funny heavies FTW!

BTW, this is what I thought Warzone was going to be, and it's just NOT...
