I understand that this is most likely a side-effect from their attempt to fix the black objects bug, but unfortunately whatever tweaks they've made to the lighting have ruined the lighting for a few of my maps. Building outdoor maps with low lighting on Parallax is now extremely difficult because the light coming from the skybox is SUPER bright no matter which skybox is used. It is also difficult to judge whether or not to make changes to the map to try to recreate the old lighting - is it a waste of time because they may choose to revert back to the original lighting? *sigh*
Doesn't make a difference unfortunately. The map lighting was designed with the gloom filter but it now looks like a freaking happy meadow!
I have a map on Alpine that is at ~10-50% light bake and it takes (no joke) 5 f'ing minutes to load up. If you wana see your yourself it is Waist High v2.
It seems like they have been moving forward with forge updates even when they make a new issue like this. I had to go back and re-light/texture all of my maps because I am sure they will keep this new look. I realized the lights are basically 200% the original brightness. So I dropped the falloff to .10 and the brightness to half the value I had it set to pre-patch and my maps turned out almost the same as before. Not too much you can do about the color skewing that has happened. Unfortunately all of the colors are now more vivid than they used to be. Hope this helped. After I found how tofix the lights it only took me 30-45min to fix each map. Check out my files if you want to see how I worked around it.
I ended up moving things around to create more shadows and it's not bad but no longer ideal. The solution should be to allow forgers to adjust the amount of natural lighting on maps.
