By its just logic are you implying that me or the creator of this map Wyvern is lacking in it?? If so that is just uncalled for.
Racher evidently has plenty of time to comment on other peoples' maps =D Got 'em. Srsly, go build a map. I'll be waiting to critique it.
Man...you guys are harsh. Not everyone is going to like a map, because we all have our personal preferences. There are plenty of forgers out there that would rejoice at receiving ANY feedback on their maps. Obviously nobody has to agree with all (or even any) feedback, but there's really nothing to be gained by attacking someone because you disagree with their feedback. We're already a small community. We should really be thankful that anyone would care enough to write up an explanation of what they don't like and why they don't like it. I'll take the feedback offered by Racher any day over a comment that simply says the map is great. Sharing/Discussing differing view points can be unbelievably valuable, because even if you totally disagree with the other persons viewpoint, the very act of discussing the different viewpoints may help someone (even if it's not either of the people engaged in the discussion) learn something new, expand their knowledge base, open their mind to possibilities that they hadn't previously considered. TLDR - Discussion is almost always good. Don't be so quick to disregard opinions you disagree with, and certainly don't demonize the person that gives the opinion.
Hey I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I just felt that we weren't getting anywhere. You asked why the huge areas worked in other games and not Halo 5. I gave an answer but you kinda repeated the question haha. We obviously have different approaches to level design for Halo 5 and that's okay. And for the other people commenting I feel like it's a little childish comparing likes vs comments or asking about making your own map, stuff like that has no relevance what so ever and is totally uncalled for.
Apologies if my comparison of likes to comments seemed offensive! The ratio of comments to likes is not subjective but objective, factual data, which could (but not always) be an indicator of how many people share someone's opinion. Hence, it is not invalidating an individual's own opinion, but showing that this single map is generally well-received by the community. If you check my previous comments, I also took the time to help explain how and why some changes are often made with terrain in order to accommodate Halo 5, as much as we like the classic Halos 1-3. Lastly, "go build a map" is not meant in the context of "I am better than you", it is meant as in "seriously, go build a map and we will critique it". You are more than welcome to mark up my map when I release one if you feel the need for 'payback' or reconciliation; I welcome your feedback!
I would like to apologise if anything i have said has offended anyone. I just think that everyone should all have their own opinions and that is fine as long as the opinions are not forced upon others. That way. we can all have cake. Amen. fyi i tried putting in a cake emoji and it wouldn't let me
No problem, I think we both agree about everything in your last message and I'm sorry too for the confusion of my message. I understand I could be a little confusing, I'm french and try to say what I think the most clearly as possible and for sure I don't miss to make a lot of mistakes. Just hope you didn't take my analysis/opinion/what I think, for you personnaly, 'cause it's absolutely not the goal of everything I said before.
This is well and all but, how many maps do you have in matchmaking? Unless you have 343 giving serious looks into your maps, I think your "opinions" are hollow.
Come on guy... Your comment doesn't mean anything... 343 choose the maps they want in the game, but that's not because I have no map in the game that my "opinion" (yep 'cause it's more like a commentary, I explain everything in it) is nothing... I just didn't build a map yet, and if I begin, I thing I'll don't build a BTB or Arena map, I probably rebuild my S/S maps, better than before, to create a different way to race in Halo. If I create a BTB map, you could be sure that I probably draw my map before go in Forge, 'cause create a plan is a good start, you'll see what things could work and what couldn't. You can overlay different place where Spartans could go with new abilities, create fluent gameplay for Spartans and vehicles, choose good positions to the weapon and before build the map, you'll have something which works because it's well balanced or not. I built a lot of map in Reach, I did it on Far Cry, I play FPS for 17 years now, so... I think even if 343 didn't put a map (and it's normal 'cause I haven't build a map yet) of mine in the game, I have a good capacity to see something which could be better. I don't say that I see everything, but I can give feedback like everyone. If we should wait to have one of our maps in the game to write a commentary or an opinion, how many people'd write hollow comment here ? Thanks for your meditation.
ITT: One person really suggests major map design changes. We then bash him for not grasping concepts as to why design must accommodate Halo 5 gameplay. Admin shows up and we all apologize because we don't want to get ban hammered. Then, conversation picks up again. Racher, saying Deltas comment doesn't mean anything is equally as disrespectful as someone saying your opinion doesn't mean anything, which we never said.
Of course not, he said me I have a bad opinion, I said him his comment didn't mean anything, 'cause to say to someone his opinion sucks is to attack that person. I just defend myself by saying DELTA his comment is not constructive... because it was not. Now, it was my last comment which not talk about the map, if someone want to talk to me, go mp 'cause I'll not answer here.
To be fair, I agree and honestly think you'll be a good critic on maps because you have very specific ideas. I'm not sure when my map upload will be (hopefully soon) but I look forward to your critique of it because you may find something which I did not previously think of.
The maps structures look fantastic but all the huge added tunnels ruins the map for me. When driving the warthog there are too many strange bumps that make driving a pain that could have been avoided by not adding the massive tunnel bases on each side of the map that really have no purpose and no one fights in. They are basically just glorified spawn zones.
First off let me preface this with the fact that I have no idea how this plays. I can only speak of how it felt to roam/cruise around this map. I think I agree that the hills are a bit much. I wouldn't say they are horribly difficult to drive around but they do seem a tad bigger than necessary. I speak specifically about your two largest hills that you have and mildly for a couple smaller ones. If they were at least 25% shorter I think they may still be effective without being as intrusive. The other thing I wanted to comment on is your new lower level under the smaller end base. Though I like the idea I don't particularly like it's current implementation. First off I dislike that the only way to get onto underground platform is to hop/clamber up. Secondly the stairs seem very odd to see once you've hopped up. I would love to see that lower base reimagined. Maybe even just have some stairs or a ramp partially submerged in sand so it still requires a minor hop but now it has a story. I doubt you have much for spare blocks after all this but I find the larger underground spaces you added feel a bit low and poorly finished compared to how amazing the rest of the map looks. A very moderate height increase and a bit of finishing touches on the entrances to the lower levels would be nice. These comments are outside the fact that this is an outstanding map. Thanks for all the hard work. Ps. I apologize if this is a bit of a messy post. I'm at work and rushing it out.
