Here's my list: Halo 2 H2A Halo CE Halo Reach Halo 3 Halo 3 ODST Halo 5 Halo 4 Halo 2 is my all time favorite. It was the Halo game that introduced me into Xbox live. Not only that but it revolutionized online multiplayer. I would never get tired of playing some Halo 2 multiplayer or going to a friends place and have a LAN party. The iconic maps, weapons, vehicles, glitches, soundtrack, characters, and story. Halo 2 will always have a place in my heart.
1v1s: Halo 2/3 2v2s: CE all the way 4v4s: H2 and H3 8v8: H3, :nobleteam: FFA: H3, H5 Invasion was sweet Firefight was great in both games, liked ODST's more One-sided objective: Halo 2 - I even played Zanzibar if one bomb was voted. I'll save the rant over that disgrace. Forge: Definitely 5. Customs: H3. Then Reach. Uh... Spartan Ops: N/A Warzone in October: Warzone in December: Warzone in February: Warzone in March:
I don't like any map from Halo 2. That does not reflect on their quality, but even if they were all considered "good maps" I still wouldn't find any of them interesting to play on. Perhaps a few of the BTB maps are exceptions, but I didn't play enough Burial Mounds or Waterworks for example to know for sure.
I agree that the H4 dev maps were terrible for 2v2, but there were plenty of good 2v2 forge maps that were never in matchmaking. I have a huge bias against H3 though. The movement, aiming, field of view, hit detection, randomness of the BR, etc. overshadow everything that was good about it. I think I logged about 500 games total, after having over 20,000 in H2. Looking back I don't even know how I managed that many H3 games. I tried to give it a second chance when it was free via games for gold, thinking I was just spoiled from CE and H2 at the time it released originally, but I came away with the same feelings I had originally. I can understand why other people like it, but I just don't enjoy H3 at all.
The only good thing about Halo 3 multiplayer was Big Team Battle, Living Dead and Grifball. It was a great party game but not something I enjoyed taking seriously.
CE 2v2s offer the deepest gameplay experiences in any halo to date by far. That doesn't mean you have to like it, but I just wanted to throw that out there
There are, a LOT of problems with halo 3 that made the game a joke competitively. The worthless BR spread, pathetic weapon sandbox, terrible netcode, weak grenades, weak strafe, bad maps, slow kill times, tiny FOV, hilarious melee system. The game competitively revolved around team shot and just running forward. It's literally just a worse version of halo 2. Competitively, that is. I still love playing it for fun
Dem Halo Wars 2v2s Also, Sanctuary is the most enjoyable (small team) halo map to date to me, followed by Chill Out, Guardian, and Damnation. Epitaph is underrated. Yes I played Halo 3, "unpopular opinions"
