Something CEsar submitted a new map: Downrush CE - Remake of Downrush from Halo 1.5, also known as Aerowalk from quake. Read more about this map...
How about crediting sic and Pwnytar? Played some games on it earlier... played well enough, for it being a pale imitator of Aerowalk and all. I liked the scaling. Forging was pretty clean for the most part too. Could use some work still, especially in the lighting.
Wow, i was hoping someone would remake this. I just recently found APK's remake of this map for Reach (is this the same as the gold pro version you spoke of?). I'll definitely give this map a spin and report back. Did anyone remake this for H4 or H2A?
Thanks for the input, but who are sic and pwnystar? BTW does anyone know how to update or change the thumbnail on the maps list page?
Sicfish and Pwnytar are the people that originally made the map for Halo 1.5. For the Thumbnail, I think there should be an option to change it on the right side, somewhere under the Download Map button. If you need me to change it for you, let me know.
Thanks to sicfish and pwnytar for redesigning aerowalk for Halo 1.5 to be one of the best custom halo maps and thanks to id Software and GT Interactive for creating aerowalk.
I haven't changed the name, I just changed the existing one. I did some testing with the CE magnum on this map and it works flawlessly, so I might make a meta version and a classic version. As of now though, it's all in one and that's the one called "Downrush CE (H1.5)." Still bothered by the color of the map.
Something CEsar updated Downrush CE with a new update entry: Downrush (Improved lighting, seamless, gameplay, etc.) Read the rest of this update entry...
This looks really good. I attempted to remake this in MCC and it looked like ass. This almost looks like it did in Halo 1.5 which is a testament to how good this Forge is.
Unfortunately, there is no way to add a waterfall that I know of, or anything close, so having it called "downrush" is kind of pointless, but I added an aesthetic dam last night, which should fit better (this takes away from the smooth cliff, so Idk what I think about it yet). Hopefully they fix the steam fx bug, because when grouping "steam constants," they can really look like waterfalls.
Wait... did I miss something? Please explain... as long as iyou're not using chromas, shields or light gobos (but if you do, it should be done well).
You don't have to use chromas or shields but lighting is part of it. Anyway this is pretty impressive. The geometry is all intact as far as I know, but the lighting can use work. Some areas like the ladder are almost pitch black. I'm also not a fan of how bright the lights can be, but the lighting itself is otherwise well balanced. I'm so salty that this looks as good as it does with as few pieces as it does. Seriously, attempting this in MCC was an exercise in frustration.
Do you have an example of a custom waterfall I could look at? Kind of curious of how it's done... Also, yes the lighting is difficult. For the ladder area you mentioned, that part was dark in the original, but not as dark as it appears here. The reason I left it like that, is because the lights on the ceiling I used would bleed through the walls if I increased the distance or fall-off ratio and increasing brightness, just makes it look worse. I don't really like using invisible point lights, because they leaves point reflections on the wall, giving them away... At the moment, lighting is at a decent balance between having no random patches around the map, accuracy compared the original, decent coloring, and no bleed through. For now, considering my lack of skill with the lighting in forge, it is as good as I could get it. I'll work on improving that area since you mentioned it, as well as a lot of the space around sniper spawn.
No. It was a community made mod for the Xbox. It basically just replaced some of the launch maps with maps that were made by a handful of people that worked on the project. It featured some really great maps. Downrush, Imminent, and Exhibit were probably the top 3. http://www.halo1forum.com/modding/26-halo-1-5-halo-1-5-lan-edition-download.html
