Screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/jqHLI Hey guys, this is just a simple Grifball map that I made using the Foundry canvas I've been working on for a little while. When Grifball actually gets released as a gametype I'll fix it up to work. For now I just want to share the map with you guys
How many pieces do you have left? I kind of want everyone to start remaking Halo 3 custom games using this canvas. Good job by the way.
I'm currently trying to optimize the Foundry Canvas map so that someone could actually make anything on it. Right now I have about 10 or so pieces left :#
Outstanding... absolutely outstanding! Man, your take on the Halo 3 classic puts my Foundry remake to shame. But nonetheless, you did an excellent job here, Joe. I can't wait for this map to be optimized for Grifball, and any other game types you're able to craft.
You have really captured the spirit of the original with this remake. I have also made a Foundry Grifball Court but went in another direction. Mine is supposed to represent the same area when it was first built, before the rust and dust. It's not quite done since and i have not yet scripted the fans to spin, and there is no crane yet. One thing i would suggest is that you move the crane to the center court line for the Grifball version. I know it may seem blasphemous but the crane does get in the way of launching on one side of the court. It wasn't too much of a problem in Halo 3 because teams switched sides between rounds, but Halo 5 Grifball may not switch sides so having a crane on one side will be a disadvantage to only one team for the whole game. What are the dimensions of the floor?
I'd love to see that map! I love maps that are takes on the same area but in a different time period. And as for the crane on my map, I'll probably end up raising the ceiling of the map since right now it's just below the crane so that nobody can jump up onto it or the big doors. However, when I think about launching that wouldn't really be possible with such a low ceiling If the ceiling was raised, then the crane would have to be moved as well as the little ledges blocked off above the floor. I was actually watching your stream a while back when you were working on a Grifball map with 3 Legged Goat and I learned a bit about how to make a Grifball map, mainly having 6 spawn points per base. Hopefully I'll be able to implement everything a standard Grifball map needs so it can be viable, because having the OG Grifball map would be awesome. Oh and the dimensions of the floor are 25 by 22 crates, which are the dimension I measured in Halo 3. In terms of Halo 5's units, it would be like 200 by 176 units.
We actually measure courts using base movement speed rather than by objects or hill sizes. Different games have required different dimensions. Generally, Grifball courts are 9.5 seconds from innermost spawn to goal, so Sprint game types require a larger court. There may be two different variants in Halo 5, Legendary Grifball which emulates Halo 3, and Halo 5 Grifball which uses Sprint and other Spartan Abilities. The court sizes have not been finalized due to not having a test game type so we are using the Halo 4 spec for testing the Halo 5 variant, and using 90% movement speed to for Legendary Grifball. The cool thing is that using 90% movement speed makes the Legendary court 256 units from wall to wall, allowing you to make very efficient and smooth floors using as few as 1 Forge item. I would suggest you adapt your design for the Legendary variant since Halo 5 Grifball courts are not square. In that case the maximum size of the room (inside edge of the wall hop walls) should be 222 x 256. 222 x 256 by NOKYARD, on Flickr You should also make your design flexible since the spec is very likely to change after the game type is released. [edit] Hint: my court uses the natural bouncy ceiling on Alpine to match the Halo 3 ceiling.
