Using an incredibly tedious technique I like to call orbit-bumping, I've mapped out the entire playable region of Empire. Two teleporters lead to the top and bottom of Empire respectively, whereas the other nine lead to the edges of the map. Good luck to anyone who wants to use it, it's in my fileshare.
Awesome! I've been looking for an Empire canvas for a while. I'll be making use of this for sure. Question, why is your FX budget so high?
I made a thread for multiple out of map canvases if you guys want to check it out. Alternatively, here is the video in the thread.
Nice. What was your technique for breaking out of the maps? I'd like to see if we can get to Alpine's ocean.
I used a pretty similar technique for each. Some maps were trickier than others; Eden was the hardest. I made a tutorial video for Eden. Getting to the ocean would be pretty awesome. I haven't tried to much to get past boundaries on the 343i canvas maps. I wish they would just give us a water map, with waterfalls, lagoons, islands, sea caves, etc.
I've been able to escape Alpine's boundaries and get to the ocean. Unfortunately, even if you get past the kill barriers, the respawn barriers get you. Orbit bumping is useful, since it lets you approximate those boundaries. Aside from that, I've been using a different technique to disable the kill barriers. I've gotten out of Parallax that way.
Nice. I started doing this on my own, but stopped after about an hour... Kudos to slogging through that man. =) And the FX budget is just naturally high on Empire. You also can't bake lighting on it either, which is why Breakout pieces are so sexy.
