Has anyone had lighting issues in the last 24 hours? My lighting was fine or at least fine ish on Sunday evening but when I loaded up my map Monday night all the sudden there was lighting glitches all over the map. Some patches where blocks or chunks of blocks are lit up or crazy splotchy, and numerous other areas where it looks almost like I have set up Gobo's There was nothing that happened in between and I hadn't even saved any changes the last couple times I booted before this oddity had appeared. I have since saved in an attempt to fix some of the lighting but I also can't even save the map as a new map. The only thing that worked was the quicksave. Also when I first was building the map and adding lighting I had set up a couple cool looking lights and then randomly a few loads later the lights looked horribly splotchy. I had changed nothing in between. Disabling Bake was what made it look almost as good as before but the notes under the option says it should look better with bake on. WTF?
Lol I've noticed that in Parallax keeps giving the wrong lighting and it gets annoying. Although what's funnier there no light bake on Fathom but on Parallax I put down a few blocks instant 60%. I'm like screw it this logic makes no sense.
Ya, I'm losing it. Also just found out that a few of my blocks are playing the, "there but not there" game. Now I have to go back and pay attention to the posts where people complained they couldn't select their blocks. All of this happened at once. Argg!
Ive been having some intense lighting issues tonight. There are random bright checkerboards everywhere. http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/no god anywhere/screenshot/3786184
to fix the bug where you have blocks that can't be selected just spawn in a couple of blocks and create a new group with them, this should take all of the blocks that can't be selected and throw them into the group as well, then just degroup them all and they should all be selectable again.
@no god anywhere That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. @Hardcore Hero Thx, I've tried that and it never made my blocks selectable. Instead choosing one of the very last groups I had formed, selected 3/4's of the groups I had made, yet still excluded the 2 unselectable groups I wanted. Fruss-ter-ating!
Well I've removed all supposed groups from my map which somehow helped the lighting ever so slightly. The problem is the 3 groups that I couldn't select are all still not selectable (and don't add to my groups count). I have run out of ideas on how to fix the lighting and broken blocks so I guess it's time for a rebuild. **sigh**
@ Preacher, did you try ungrouping all the groups you can select before trying the group fix? Also did you try having a fried bookmark it and resave it to fix the cant save as problem? That may also fix group issue
I tried ungrouping first, I tried ungrouping after and I tried ungrouping in between. Nothing seemed to make a difference. Of course the first group selection always resulted in 75% of my groups being selected. Unfortunately none of them ever brought my 3 groups back. I kind of lost hope when my groups reached zero. The frustrating part was watching the snap to function still work. As for the save problem, no I never tried bookmarking it. I guess I could give it a go but the problem wasn't saving, which I could do, it was the "save as" feature that stopped functioning. I believe the corruption of the file is what made "save as" feature stop working. It would never show the file details on the load screen. It would just spin forever if I didn't start the game. I'm not sure how quick save differs.
Supposedly save as is pretty different and can fix some bugs, idk why that would be, though. I'd give it a shot
Thx for the save tip. Bookmarked the file on my friends Xbone, loaded it in the Forge and then used "save as" just fine. Just need to transfer it back to my Xbone now. Unfortunately it did nothing for my unselectable groups. I've made headway on lighting though for those that are interested. My lighting troubles started on my last save which had me at 97% although I swear that was 88% when I shut down the night before. Ignoring the lighting oddity seen in @no god anywhere post above, I decided to see if I could remove some of the horrible baked shadow issues (blotchy almost oily textures) that randomly appeared a week or so ago, by turning bake off (contrary to bakes description). I saw marked improvement in alot of my shadows, and less in others. At some point during this process, not sure when, the lighting anomaly seen in No god anywhere's post disappeared. This was a nice double win, or even tripple win when you consider my lighting had already gone from 97% down to 65% before I had even fussed with the whole map. Here's a few things I've leaned so far. -When an object is fully lit by the global lighting you can turn bake off as it appears to have no affect. -Objects around, and especially embedded into, other objects can be affected by bake being turned off. (odd watermarking type shadow) -Weapons pads are affected by the floor below them. If bake is off they will not light properly. -Creating a balance between baked and non baked objects will reduce light % and improve lighting. Hope this helps.
