Every Halo game I've had the tradition of running the weekly testnight lobbies for Waypoint to encourage new forgers to get into the scene, I'll be starting it back up the first Wednesday after Forge drops to continue that tradition, and anyone is more than welcome to join us then. My goal is to expose more players to the joy of creating multiplayer maps and sharing them in an incredibly diverse and rich community that is the forging community.

Some tips for anyone that is helping a new forger learn the ropes.

•Treat them and their maps with respect. They're new, they may not know what makes a good map, good yet. So show them what will improve and what might conflict in their map design.

•Don't use toxicity as a method of judgement, if you're going to tell them their map is bad, do it in a way that doesn't make the entire forge community look like a bag of dicks. We should strive to set a standard for each other, and if one of us makes a bad impression, it's a bad impression on us all.

•Use examples! Show new forgers maps you know are good, and the community has a general positive look on, it's a great way to show the potential that forger has, be sure to use diverse maps with different ideas and play styles, you want them to see good maps, but you want them to have their own ideas too!

•Be pleasant, and refer them to other forgers who may be able to help them, if you're not too sure about an idea bring in another perspective, sometimes have an extra eye on things might open up avenues that weren't too apparent.

•Share the lobby. I can't stress this one enough, let the new kids have a go, and give them constructive honest feedback. Popping in to play your map and split is one of the worst things you can do to ruin your reputation as a forger. People will stop playing with you.

Have fun, respect each other, make something and share it. Its what we're about after all!

I like your points about new forgers. If this community is going to grow we need veteran forgers along with new forgers.

Even if someones map is bad, be respectful. Give them constructive feedback and examples of what they're doing wrong, so they can improve. Everyone was new at some point.

Personally I think that growth is what the community needs most right now. New members are pretty necessary in order to do that.

Fresh perspectives and loads of new testers are the spice of life in forge.

I can't wait to see all the cool stuff people come up with.

I was always the guy that sat on the toilet drinking my sorrows away while the other maps were tested, then leaves in a drunken rage after my map is played, telling everyone how bad their maps were.

    So, I'll see you there.

I mean like if you play 15 other peoples work, then you play yours after 2 hours of testing, then I'd think that was justifiable. I've always held the personal view that after your maps is looked at, play one more match, then bail, so you don't **** over the next guy who needs his stuff looked at. I think we can all agree that's fair, right?

Will there be a set time every Wednesday? Also, what about lobby sizes for different sizes of maps (e.g. 2v2, 4v4, 8v8)? This sounds helpful and I'd definitely like to be involved.

You bring up some good points in this post, I am interested in this also but would also like to know what sort of time you had in mind on a Wednesday?
