Has anyone tried a CTF Forge-off?

Been trying to think of some new ideas once Forge is released in Halo 5. Used to forge a ton back in Halo 3 and Reach.

I thought of an idea to make Forge become part of the custom game experience itself. Each team would get a certain amount of time to forge their side of a CTF map. They would place terrain, weapons, vehicles, build a base and place their flag. Of course some rules would be set including making sure the flag is actually able to be captured. After the time is up you then load the map into a CTF game and the teams face off. I think it could lead to some fun/wacky maps that may end up being silly but that could be part of the fun. On top of that each time you do it would lead to unique experiences.

Has anyone tried anything like this? If you have what kind of rules did you put in place? Also since I haven't forged in such a long time I forgot this and I hope someone could answer. What is the max amount of players you could have in a forge session at once? Was it the same as the normal max players in a custom game?

Spawn system and its trial and error nature murders that idea unfortunately

Could you explain more what you mean by this? What exactly is it about the spawn system that prevents you from doing this? I again haven't forged in a long long time so I don't remember too much about the details of things.

I'd make my side so that the flag only appears to be accessible through a cave that forces the opponent to do a jump up. Where the cave opens into the flag area it would only be large enough to fit one person at a time, and the opening would be surrounded by fusion coils that are scripted to explode every second.
It would have an additional entrance that brings you directly to the flag. It would be a teleporter that's disguised as a death pit.

I think this idea would work better for Slayer or FFA. I do think it would be fun to experiment with new ideas like this, but objectives would be kinda dumb BC of what chunk said above. Everyone would make their flags near impossible to capture.

Do you think though that the average player would actually be able to do more intricate stuff like that in a smaller window of time? Like I'm not saying we spend hours letting each team build there side. I'm saying we give a smaller window of time where the team does whatever they can and see how it turns out.

I don't think the average player/forger will be able to plan all that kind of stuff out. The fun is in what you can do in a short period of time and how wacky the sides of the map could turn out.

I think it's something I'll give more thought to. Maybe lay down some basic ground rules so it's still fun. I could also create a template map with spawns already all set and such to use each time I'd like to do this idea.

Man I just can't wait to get my hands on the new forge to see what it's like!

What you are thinking of could be kinda fun, but you would maybe have to have a template going with a middle already pre forged. From there you could give players a very small list of pieces to use. I'm talking a maximum of around 30 specific objects. I think limiting the pieces in such a drastic way may be the only way to keep things moderately balanced. The template would consist of many more pieces, but the base areas would be empty.

Perhaps have the forgers make their opponents base with a minnumim piece requirement and unphased physics.

That way the flag would need to be accessible because you'd want to get it to score, but it couldn't just be an open base because you'd be required to use a certain number of pieces.

The size of the bases and the placements of the flags should be predetermined to balance the spaces with the piece usage requirements.
