Forge Kit/ Palette remixes

    So the more I analyse the maps the more I see potential for slicing things up in Maya to create forge kits based on the different maps/ campaign spaces.
    A lot of the geometry already seems to be modular instanced stuff and looks easy enough to slice up and work into a really useful modular kit with some character.

    Looks totally doable and given the scene files is nothing I couldn't do myself :p
    Just wish I could actually act on it instead of hope someone at 343 does. Nothing too hard just needs to be looked at from a forge perspective.

    Anyway onto the fun stuff, here are a few images.

    Sunaion has a crazy amount of potential as a cool MP destination but also as a forge kit, mostly modular, bunch of large cylinder pieces outside, interiors made of small wall segments with pillars repeated on seams.

    Round floor pictured above could be cut as outlined with magnets snapped to corner verts.

    Window wall cut in half as block, pillar on seam to flat wall piece. Also floor can be sliced up into block surface.

    Chief cryo pod window walls with pillars once again on the seams.

    These divider walls can be broken down into some pillars, wall pieces, wall with door cutout, and top trim piece.

    Overlapping slightly offset large cylinders, some with stairs, form the bulk of the exterior.

    All over plaza there are base wall trims, corners and storefronts which would make ideal blocks and already have small bevels at the points where they would best be extracted.

    Another angle to better see the corner piece.

    At the bottom you can see rounded wall trim end cap pieces sandwiching a strorefront piece.
    Also the plaza clamber ledge cut into corner and straight pieces. The top mid catwalk blocks. Bunch of other stuff.

    Background buildings in close proximity to playspace on plaza would work well when split into floors as large blocks.

    The pillar of plaza, this thing is everywhere, would be much cooler than something like a basic 1x4.

    Closer look at top of top mid catwalk pieces.

    Only scratching the surface with this post and it's way longer than planned. I could talk about and point out examples for days. How about some road pieces (ODST was mostly modular)

    Maybe this style of block with some nice concrete and clean metal trim.

    Maybe some baby pillars, stairs, concrete stair trim, small block using the wall trim texture.

    Block from each floor of centred building pot plants and benches.

    Finally I present a Sunaions own grown sexy 1x4 block alternative.

    Didn't mean for this post to get so out of hand, just see so much potential in treating forge assets as the art remix of existing content and it seems totally doable.

    My thoughts as well, these would be fantastic for future forge DLC plans. Don't forget to highlight the purple torches...we need those too!

    Question: How are you getting images from the campaign? I thought there was no theater mode

    Amen to this. Lots of great things that could be pulled out. My only thoughts are that it is entirely possible that these pieces are not performant enough for Forge at this moment. The high detail can be afforded in a static map, so that may be a huge limitation. I've always dreamed of this. I tore up Zealot in order to find Covenant modular pieces.

    @WARHOLIC Old school with the blind skull H2 style :p, Oh and I didn't bother highlighting torches because obvious. Those banners though!
    @GodlyPerfection I always looked at Pennance/ Damnation as perfect for slicing into covy forge assets in reach. On the performance side they shouldn't be that bad, most of the game and anything not scenery is pulling from a small pool of tiling mats/textures anyway and I don't think people would mind having assets with shared textures pooled into groups and performance impacts made apparent.
    Maybe you have to be more thoughtful, but maybe you get much cooler **** being made.

    I've always wonder why this was never done in the first place. Makes sense for the performance aspect. We can only hope for a decent christmas present this year!!
