Thanks for the welcome. I am truly new to the Halo community - H4 is my first Halo (it's my first FPS since the heady days of Wolfenstein and Doom), but I think the game is fantastic. Could be better, but so could any game. Anyway, used to have a ball making Doom levels, so figured I'd try my hand at Forge. So far haven't made anything worth a crap, though. And I see many familiar faces from Waypoint and THC . . . too bad about THC.
Quite. Good to hear more about you though. Doom was quite the game-changer. Played once, but I was really young then. Mum didn't approve so I didnt get another chance and havent since. lol. As for making "anything worth a crap", it took me all of Reach to figure out how to make maps. Just keep at it and you'll get there.
If you want out, ask to leave. Don't take down other member's threads with you, that shows zero class. This is maximus' welcome thread, any posts not relating to welcoming him to the forum or any such related posts, will be deleted as spam.
Maximus, you seem to be doing pretty well here, just keep playing and testing and dont be worried about chucking maps together for tcoj- there is no timescale for getting them complete or anything. You can test a map with us guys a hundred times if you like. Which reminds me, its tuesday today! If anyone wants maps testing, then just pop your gt in the tcoj thread and put your map in your fileshare so i can get it and play it. Usually we can get about 8 ppl together, so we won't be able to do any BTB most likely.
Pinohkio with the necropost. Lolz. @ Juanez . . . I have a new map, but it's not ready for play yet. I was hoping to be further along, but I kept breaking dynamic lighting with it. But I found the thread on the dynamic lighting budget, exchanged the station corridors for station ramps (which is a pain in the ***, because the station ramps aren't on an even number of degrees for the tilt) and started reforging it. In the meantime, I'm happy just playing on other people's maps.
Ummmm... You guys? Whats going on? All of my maps are gone as well as my account. I'm not Dr.Effect, I'm SimmonsZore but for some reason my account got wiped and now says I'm a new member????? Does anyone know what's going on here? REM, Grim, I'm so confused -_-
Well if you message OvR, Im sure he can help you out, he's the new admin, along with WARHOL1C I believe, or an of the current staff may beable to help you out. Sorry to hear that though, hopefully the problem can be fixed!
The site was closed down for a while. When it came back online, everything from the last year was lost. If you registered an account, posted maps, or posted anything on the forums during that time, it essentially doesn't exist/never happened. I apologize. It's unfortunate.
Hey all, Long time since I posted here. I found out through /r/halo that ForgeHub was back so here I am. Looking forward to getting back into halo with the MCC. GT: STLfan2468 if you need someone to play with or test out Forge maps
Thanks for the new title ha! The last time I posted in here I was in high school and now I work as a full time IT consultant (time flies). With Competitive Halo coming back, I can see there will be a demand for some more "pro" maps since H2A only shipped with six remastered maps.
Haha it's been long since I have been on this website, and it feels good to be back! New account and a new website, a nice fresh start.
Hey guys, Buddy Jumps here! Some of you might know me by the name "Buddy" over at HC. For the others I'll just put some facts here: [In the past six years I haven't been playing anything else than Halo. I'm first on the German leaderboard for HReach over at HaloTracker and was 70th of the whole world (175000Kills - 3.75 K/D - Win %: 85). When Halo 4 came out I seriously started forging (because I didn't like the MP). I also transferred my jump skills from Reach over to Halo 4. That was two years ago. Today I've got over 36 Halo 4 map features and over 30000 downloads on my content. My jumping skills increased in Halo 4 as I am just fascinated by jumping in Halo. It's easy to do, but hard to master (Extra note here: I'm a pro at natural jumping, so if you need someone to try to break your map just hit me up ).] It was a long way... But I finally made it here! I plan on being more often on this site as it really needs more active people. I will also post my content here just to let you know. Until then, sweet jumps!
Awesome to hear Buddy, glad you've joined the site and I hope you get a warm welcome from the other members. Very impressive KD spreads...most forgers are bad kids, like me. I too started from a very competitively minded attitude and then dropped practicing to get into map design. I've been to Germany, Garmische has great skiing. Looking forward to some new maps of yours, MCC will be great in the long run.
Hello everyone I'm an old/new member, gave up on forge and customs after H4 got rid of some of my favourite parts of the tool, so did most people apparently - I'm glad to see forgehub seems to be in resurgence and has a lot of good people behind the reins- I predict the youtube channel will kick a lot of ass. There seemed to be some weird **** goin on here years ago - like immature teenage power battles and one-upmanship, seems like all the douchebags have dropped off and the nice people are calling the shots now. I thought I was done with gaming - I did a complete 180 on my life and then started playing sport and getting out of the house more, taking up sport again over the age of 30 is a beautiful thing guys - don't sit on that Xbox too much. But anyway the stuff I've been watching on H5 looks sooooo strong that I just had to put in that Xbox one / H5 pre order. I'm a slow forger and I made different iterations of one map per halo for h3 - I made Skyjump (rocket race stunt map) and its boosting version Skyblaze, and for Halo Reach I made a Halosport map/gametype called Demonball. They're still on here and I believe they're pretty good - with the new tool's awesomeness I'm hoping I can make a few more maps - **** all the competitive **** - lets just have fun, creativity isn't meant to be competitive. They never really got played that much but I've got good memories, something about the effective combination of design, creativity, building and videos games which forge represents really appeals to me. My favourite memories of forge are finally being able to realise an idea that I had in Reach with Demonball v.2 which was to have a minigame arena which changes slightly to support different gametypes - I did release ("release"! like I'm a developer of something lol) this as a map preview. And with Skyjump it was one of ten winners of an old forgehub comp with the bizzare name of the deco contest, and the fact that "Skyjump Race" got 20,000 downloads plus - mainly due to a really cool H3 race youtuber called Salomun. I know that sounds like bragging but I'm just saying its cool to see that a lot of people have enjoyed something you put a lot of work and thought into see you online Hubbers!
Sorry if I'm wrong but were you previously called Buddha - something, I remember being in a custom on foundry watching this guy break a map - he really is the best jumper in the halo world - sorry if im wrong but you sound like that guy I remember made great puzzle maps and had a very strong technical mind
Hey guys! My gamertag is Darkx3lA, but you guys can call me Alex. I'm not new to Halo, but I'm new to the Halo community. The last time I was really active on Xbox Live was Halo 2, but I've been making maps since Halo 3 Forge came out. (So obviously I never shared anything online) Barely anyone I know plays online anymore, but I'm going to buy Xbox Live Gold so I can share some maps with you guys when Halo 5 Forge is released. Halos 1-3 and Forge from Master Chief Collection (not even campaign) are the only Halo experiences I have. I bought Halo 5 and realized the controls are completely different from what I remember. Due to my lack of skill in playing the game, I feel like my perception of map design and knowledge of jumps/movement feats are outdated (I barely dealt with sprint before). Also I know nothing about uploading/downloading maps, although something tells me that 343 is redesigning that aspect of the system. So............anyone have any good level design study references/pointers?
