So as many of you know, Epicenter is a map created by myself and a Chunk. I thought that with h2a likely being our maps final resting place, and with halo 5's forge being spoiled, I would share the short and sweet story of our creation.

This all really began when I started forging. I was in awe of Chunks maps and wanted to be capable of the creating the same awe with my own maps. I started out by messaging him about my maps. I had messaged other forgers, namely schnitzel and bleuprint, but never with a response. I remember forging some horrid map in reach, and seeing chunks name pop up.

I opened it up not expecting much, but I was surprised with literal paragraphs of feedback and suggestions, which blew me away. I was so excited that I probably didn't learn anything from it, but that is besides the point. Chunk slowly turned me from my ways and I went from making unplayable maps to ok maps. I'm still on the ok part, but I'll get there. Finally, when I wasn't quite so bad, and we were both very familiar with eachothers styles, I asked him about the possibility of a co-forge. He said yes!

We (I) tried to force out a new design and it just wasn't working. I was making some bad inverse map that chunk was probably cringing about being a part of, but he proposed an Idea. He said he thought of a pie with 1 or 2 slices taken out while taking a walk. It must have struck a chord, because within hours I had created this:

I know, it looks like a dog with flags in its ears.

Anyways, the rest of the history of Epicenter has been here on Forgehub, and I'm glad you guys were a part of it. I'll end this with a quote from Chunk on the h4 Epicenter thread.

Xandrith and I had spent a lot of time helping each other out with our maps, whether it was giving feedback, brainstorming ideas, playtesting, etc. I could probably have named him as a co-forger on several of my maps, and he probably could have done the same since we helped each other out so much. We figured it was finally time to do an official co-forge. I had a basic idea that I thought would work. I described it as a pie with a couple of slices removed, and put together a very basic shell of it in forge. He drew a picture of a dog (he claimed it was a sketch of the map, but it was really just a picture of a dog, lol), and the rest is history. Seriously, though, this project was a true co-forge. It could not have come into existence if either of us had worked on it alone. Our styles complemented each other wonderfully. It's one of those occasions where people come together to create something greater than they could ever create on their own.

Seeing that sketch of the original design makes me happy. It was so good.
