Hello Hubbers, It's a sad day in the Forging Community. Lightsout255 lost his battle with cancer. He was an active member in the forging community as much as he could be, and he made some pretty amazing maps. I wanted to honor his memory by recreating his Halo 3 Map "Carbon" in MCC H2A Forge. But I wanted us to do it as a community project. Everyone puts a piece of the map together, and then passes it on to the next person to add on to the map. We will keep it going until the map in finished. If you are interested in helping out, let me know, I will be starting the project this week. If no one wants to help out, (due to the small population of forgers) then I will do the project myself simply because I don't want Lightsout to be forgotten by everyone. Once the map is finished, everyone who participated will be invited to a party, we will make a short video on the map of all of us paying our respects to Lightsout, and show him how much he will be missed. After everyone says a few words, we will play a few games on the Carbon Remake, and try to have some good ol' fashioned Halo fun. Regards, Beats
I think that if you really want to pay tribute to Carbon and its creator, having a bunch of people collaborate to do so may miss the mark as it will lead to a less coherent and ultimately weaker final product. Still, I would love to see Carbon recreated and would be happy to spotlight the tribute in order to pay my own respects.
Dude, lights really was a cool guy. He didn't treat me like a noob when I first joined & started talking with him. He's still on my friends list on live & I always saw him watching tv. So eerie when you hear about someone you talked to on live but never met in person has died. #riplightsout #ripsarge
Yeah, this is sad news indeed. I only spoke with him for a short time when we were both staff on HC, but he was definitely a great guy. About the map, Psychoduck informed me about a week ago that there were some talks of people wanting to remake the map. Of course I got all excited, seeing as that's one of my favorite 1v1 maps (and hence why I re-created it in Halo 4). So I found the old sketch I had made with the dimensions of the original and started forging. I actually didn't know about this thread until just 5 minutes ago, when I checked skype to see that Auburn linked me to this thread. I was unaware of your idea where each new person puts a little piece of it together, so now I feel a little awkward about having just completed my remake of the map (minus weapons/spawns). So since this was your idea to begin with, I can just hand the map off to you if you want, or I can do whatever with it. Unfortunately my time is quite limited these days, which means I no longer have time to keep up with Halo stuff, and thus have no desire to release a forge map as my own. So you can take what I've forged and go from there if you want! Or you can start from scratch. Just letting you know it's there if you want it I feel like I'm rambling lol okay I'm stopping now.
