Halo 3 Initial Spawns?

    Alright so I've been out of the forge game for a long time and am definitely out of the loop so this may be a stupid question.

    But the other day I decided to make a Halo 3 Octagon (slayer) map since I couldn't find one online and I'm pretty much done but I can't get initial spawning to work. Does anybody know if this is a problem in MCC or if I'm just retarded?

    Objective pieces don't work in H3 Forge at the moment. I haven't personally given it a try so I'm not sure if initial spawns fall under this category but I'm willing to bet they do if your spawns don't work.

    Try sticking a respawn area over your initial point and see if that does the trick, it shouldn't be necessary but give it a go anyways. If not, I'd chalk it up to the broken objective. Someone else might have better insight into this issue in particular.

    Thought of the respawn area idea but couldn't find it either. Kind of ridiculous if that's right because that would pretty much make Halo 3 forge useless.

    If I recall correctly, respawn areas weren't a thing in Halo 3 - they were introduced with Reach.

    Initial spawns should work just by virtue of placing them down on the map (and setting them to the right Team, if required). If they're not working then I'm going to go ahead and assume it's because they're borked in MCC - le sigh. Either that or you are indeed doing something silly - I haven't tested out initial spawns myself in Halo 3 in MCC, so I can't as yet judge your mental acumen :p

    No, there were respawn areas in H3 but they weren't required for initial spawns. There were flag away zones too.

    On H3 you could place 1 starting spawn with a cluster of respawn points & the whole team would spawn there.

    So, here's the problem. In Halo 3 (which did have initial spawn points and respawn zones), these and other items were specifically tied to objective modes. So, you would switch the editing mode to Slayer to put down initial spawns and zones, or you would switch to CTF to place flags and such. Due to spawn weighting, having a single initial spawn near a cluster of respawn points will allow a team to spawn together, surrounding the single initial spawn. This is true in any Halo game.

    However, switching between editing modes in forge was done through the start menu in Halo 3. Unfortunately, MCC removed this functionality as it replaced by the unified start menu. This means that initial spawns, respawn zones, and objectives cannot currently be placed in MCC. It also means that trait zone properties cannot be edited in Halo 4.
