I was wondering how object count relates to the framerate of a custom map. I am currently building a small 4v4 map, the object count is 578/650 now that I am finished with spawn points and objective markers. The framerate isn't bad at all, but it does drop ever so slightly at some parts of the map. What would you say is an acceptable object count? Or is it even the object count that causes the frame drops? I have zero natural pieces on my map
Object density (too many objects in one area) and pieces with high polygon counts tend to affect framerate the most. The higher your overall object count is the more likely it is that the map will suffer from framerate issues, but the two are not directly related. It's possible to reach the object limit and still have smooth framerate. You should check out this thread for a thorough explanation - http://www.forgehub.com/threads/frame-rate-a-short-guide-for-h2a.148013/ High object counts come with their own set of issues in H2A, aside from framerate concerns. A map with over 550 pieces will often not be playable for 8 players, because the game literally will not load the map. The same map may load fine for only 2 or 4 players though. It's not completely clear what the root cause of this is, and there's no solution other than keeping your object count as low as possible. This thread has had some good discussion on the subject - http://www.forgehub.com/threads/byt...for-us-forgers-important-for-everyone.148327/
Would this include objects that are invisible in custom games, such as spawn points, hill markers, etc. ?
That subject is discussed in the link I posted. You can read it and come to your own conclusion, since there seem to be varying opinions. http://www.forgehub.com/threads/byt...for-us-forgers-important-for-everyone.148327/
