So I am forging a map on Awash and could someone be so kind to explain to my why the lighting on my map is ****ed up for the first 30 seconds or so and then turns back to normal? I assume it is the object usage though.
it isn't the objects, awash has this annoying "feature" where it starts of dark and slowly gets bright.
Here are a couple of pics of what I have been working on. Note though, lots of rocks will be removed probably
More like a re-imagination of guardian/lockout/blackout. Salem III aka my Halcyon type map needs some redesigning/scaling. Edit: it actually has some resemblence to Salem II with the middle top bridge. Original idea for that was to have a switch that would move a crate from left to right which could push a player in a killzone if they didn't pay attention. Also limiting the power of the power position. May still pull through with that, but have to know the despawn time of a container to make everything work perfectly. Haven't had the time to do so, so for now this is a placeholder which actually isn't bad imo.
Holy **** its almost the end of January. After xmas I could disastrously sick and the time just blows by. I really need to finish moving my map over to Awash. Perhaps I should also find out what all this 1v1 business is about...
So I spent the day getting a solid 1v1 layout down on Awash, then I go into custom games to check it out and the map basically looks like night for the first 10 seconds. What's going on here? Is Awash's lighting just ****ed? Reaaaally hoping I don't have to reforge this on a different canvas.
yea awash lighting is ****ed. it isn't too bad if you have the right settings though (pc colour space) and a decent monitor/tv. you can also set a nova fx to be there at the start untill it brightens up then despawn it using scripting which is what i'm doing.
Although the darkness is annoying for the beginning of the match, I don't think it is too bad overall. It's not like the map turns dark to bright to dark to bright etc Sure it would've been better if it weren't like this, but it shouldn't be too bothersome. Just make sure you are not building enclosed rooms.
I was working on a map for the 1v1 contest, but it wasn't good enough to win so I'm just making it for the sake of making it. However, it has two problems: ONE piece is tilted 5 DEGREES to a side, which screws up the rest of the back of the map. From above, it looks like... male genitalia
Is this an instance which it tilted 5 degrees after saving and reloading the map? What happens when you try tilting it back (with rotation while editing coordinates)? Why is this a problem?
No, somewhere along the line it tilted 5 degrees, It doesn't matter, I'm deleting the back section because I don't like it. Its just funny.
Finished the layout of my first 1v1 map. Gotta say that building 1v1 maps is really fun to do. I also already have the next idea ready in my head for the next 1v1 map.
Excited to see all of these 1v1 maps! I know there are only 3 prizes available but if there are some exceptional maps submitted we could always use a couple extra in the 1v1 "Smackdown" tournament!
Here, I'll tease my map that has seen Halo Reach. I am hoping very much to accommodate it for 1v1, but I still have many decisions to make. http://xboxclips.com/Korlash823/f67d1911-95e5-408a-a3ec-c08f840176bd I think I removed the sound somehow, so sorry about that.
I love this design, and I think this is the best the map has ever looked. I have to admit I'm skeptical of it being a good 1v1 map in this game, but I could be wrong (and I hope I am).
