Antrum is a map I've been working on for a little over a month now, and I'm just about done with it, other than play testing and smoothing out the map here and there. It's based on Erosion, and uses a modded map, the mod being extra pipes and building blocks, which is also why if you look at the file author you will see ddeZ droL (Lord Zedd) instead of my GT. However, I forged this map myself, and it's the first one I've created after a long forging hiatus. I know 4v4 slayer (or 6-8 people) works fine, but I consider this a WiP still because I haven't been able to test other game modes (CtF and Flood), and also because I know my map could use the critique before I actually finalize this map. There are lots of points of power on this map, but these are balanced due to A.) having no cover B.) everyone on the map can literally see you C.) the mix of line of site blockers means you can be shot from anywhere. There are also "parkour" jumps on all the pipes (except near the pump house) meaning you can jump pipe to pipe without having to grenade jump. The environment is also "interactive" as there's a breakable fence and a breakable platform that can make enemies fall to their death. Antrum is Latin for cavity or chamber, and I think it describes this map perfectly.

    Starting Drops:
    Sniper Rifle
    Overshield

    Random Drops:
    Shotgun
    Sticky Detonator
    Rail Gun
    Energy Sword
    Needler x2
    Plasma Grenades x2
    Frag Grenades x2

This side path that flanks the Pump house, it's also one of Red team's respawns.

Pretty much all pipes can be climbed on, with the exception of the pump house pipes, this tends to create a unique dynamic mix of close combat, and mid and long range shoot outs, thanks to the objects that can block line of site. There are also lots of obvious trick jumps on this map, but I like it, as it allows easier travel around the map.

Hi man, first of all, welcome to ForgeHub! :)

A couple things that come to mind looking at the screenshots:

-Firstly, pretty cool to see H4 forge stuff. Most of the new maps here are H2A maps with graham crackers galore.

-Is there enough cover for people walking around on the ground? Not sure how sloped the rock area is (the borked dynamic lighting on Erosion makes it hard for me to see the ups and downs in the terrain) but the pipes don't seem to be very solid cover. Someone hiding behind pipes could easily be forced out with grenades.

-The "parkour pipes" as you call them look like they have the potential to be a really neat dynamic, but from the pictures they look a little overused on the map. If you removed some of them / replaced them with structures, the remaining pipes would be more noticeable and more "iconic" for the map.

Just my thoughts at first glance. Once again, welcome to the forums!!

Thanks! Unfortunately looking at my pictures now, I realize the map looks pretty clunky from an overview, but once in-game, there is plenty of space, the pipes don't look quite as overused. The pipes also more or less help break up site longs across the map, more for breaking the long distance LoS in general as opposed to quick cover, however there is also plenty of cover, all while making sure the aesthetics are not overbearing. Also I agree with you on the lighting, you can't really tell what's what in the pictures. The best thing to do would be download the map and explore (sorry, I don't mean to try and shamelessly promote my maps usually, but yeah, the pictures don't really do the map justice in this case).

Also, thanks for the welcome! I will post a couple maps here after awhile!
