if any of u nerds wanna get back in touch/play some doto too/dayz/civ http://steamcommunity.com/id/maceinhd thought this site was down forever. turns out haloevolved is what died. rip in peperonis that perversion of old potato hub
Ah, I cleared the first week on Normal but mainly just PvP now. Been a little down though since my Warlock main has been progressively getting worse with the nerfs. Currently leveling a Holy Pally though.
Good point. Whoever is in charge though is handing out these "Forge Critic" titles like candy though.
I'm guessing it's because someone is tampering with the inner-workings of the site, and they're not doing an amazing job. We both used to be Reviewers.
Pretty sure most of the muck ups are still on oVR. Gotta say though, over the past month, place has been improving. I'm doubting the forge community will ever pick up to Reach levels though.
I don't understand how the H3 ere was so popular aside from the fact that the game was immensely popular. The forge mechanics were horrid, extremely limited, and required far too many hours of dedication to accomplish even the simplest of designs. It simply wasn't a time worthy endeavor for myself to pursue, and I'm surprised to see that so many individuals thought otherwise. Frankly, I think the H3 Era of forge is viewed with the most blinding of nostalgia glasses. Some of my buddies were forgers back then and talk all the time about how designs were so much better than the designs people come up with today, however I disagree entirely. None the less, H4 and H2A's forge populations are miniscule in comparison, but wager that's more because the game's populations are miniscule in comparison to Reach's, let alone H3's. The fact that the forge community was more populous in H3 is not evidence enough that it was more popular or some how better, it simply echos that a niche community like forge will of course have more members during a highly populated game than it will with a low populated game. If the forge community only made up 1% of the whole Halo community, the H3 era forge community would of course absolutely trounce today's in regards to size, as 1% of a larger number is greater than 1% of a smaller one. /rant
While those are all valid sentiments, I believe most people (especially people who enjoy the occasional "casual" atmosphere) would rather have the size and activity of the custom games/forge community from Halo 3 days over the improved forge mechanics we have today. Creativity will always be around to fill in the gaps, regardless of the tools you have at your disposal, but it's hard to enjoy a game when there's no community to enjoy it with you.
Very true. I'm on the fence as to what I'd prefer... A larger community would be great, but I don't think I could ever commit to forging a map if I had to use H3's tools.
They aren't inversely related (at least not wholly, in my opinion), so hopefully the Halo community will get a second wind with 343i going back to a more "classic" Halo feel for 5: Guardians. The main limiting factors are going to be the negative opinions that have formed over the last few games (resulting in fracturing communities and the loss of certain key community drivers), and the under-selling of the Xbox One itself. I, for instance, jumped ship to the PS4 and I know I'm not the only one.
