Apparently my original post disappeared into the void when the website was updated - so I'm reposting. I am having problems trying to recreate an Infection game from Reach that my buddies an I played fairly frequently ( yes, I am only now trying to recreate the game instead of playing Reach ). I can get around most of the differences between Flood and Infection, but for one problem ..... everything works ( more or less as it should ) except the weapon spawns. None of the weapon spawns I place in Forge, are showing up in actual game tests. Does anyone have any idea at all why none of the weapons I place on the map, even show up? Does anyone know if Flood is hard coded to reject weapons spawns other than what you spawn with?
Yes, sorry about that Chopper. When the site updated we lost all posts within 2-3 days pre-launch. Sorry for the incovenience, site should not experience that again. Weapons on map do not show up in Flood gametype. This is coded into the gametype released by 343 and can not be changed unless using a modded gametype. The only way to have weapons show up on map for Flood gametype is by placing ordinance drops.
Yes, it was yet another major oversight by 343. It has been addressed in H2A. Flood can now pickup weapons set by the gametype options.
@ WARHOLIC The problem with ordinance drops, is that they show up on the players HUD. I don't have a problem with that for the Last Man Standing, but for the initial spawn, they need to search through various bits of debris to get the good stuff - and if they miss it, then they need to resort to the vehicles. @ oVR I'm less worried about the Flood having a different weapon, but I will grant that the game was more exciting in Reach with the Infected armed with gravity hammers and with the game options set to Indestructible Vehicles.
I would recommend searching out Abandoned Cashew's "Salvation" gametype. Yes it is modded, yes 4chub supports modded content
I heard about it last week . As long as it's balanced for everyone, I don't have a real problem with Mods. I mostly play LAN games anyway ( just something about being in the same room with good friends and good food that really makes my day ).
The modded gametype adds a bunch of desperately needed features to flood. There are weapon caches that you can set on the map, if you die you become infected right on the spot, if you get hit by the flood then your teammates need to press and hold X to heal you so that you dont turn and become flood and many other features. Highly recommended.
