When I do the door technique, and I'm doing it for the second tim, my object seems to spasm out of control and eventually thrown across the map.
Try it again. Then try it again. If you don't see progress by the 4th time or so, I'd try save/quitting the doors a little higher up, so you aren't merging the object down quite as far. Basically, with the door trick, the farther you want to merge it, the more likely the object is to spaz out or just fall through the floor. Merging takes persistence, it can be trying at times, so be prepared.
aww, this is awesome! this will work great for my "plains of oblivion" map i'm trying to make! thanks.
One of the most important things is blocking the sides off. Some scenery is tougher than others for keeping objects straight. I tent to use fence walls and fence boxes. I dont know why but they do a good job of keeping things straight. Single and Double boxes are good, and using doors is the best because its basicly impossible for an object to merge itself with a door, guarranteeing your object will be straight. When placing the scenery to block off the sides, make sure you get them exactly in the right space, any small gap will make the object wonky. Also its a good idea to block the roof with something, it tends to stop the object coming out at an angle.
Merging bridges length wise into a wall is a real pain in the ass. Takes lots of patience and good interlocking around it just to get it secure enough to go in the direction you want and only the direction you want.
im using this greatly for one of my new zombie maps.. thanks for posting really helps us small time forgers out!
THANKS SO MUCH! Shock Theta's and LightSout255's guides to merging are really helpful and has allowed me to forge new creations
The physics engine is making too many calculations for the memory to handle, so it drops the frame rate. And to fix it? I find that clearing out the cache works, for some reason. It's supposedly uncorrelated, but holding A while booting up your Xbox makes it faster.
Once you interlock with the ground, with the doors, can you lower it again by redoing the doors, and completing the steps again?
Jeez, thank you for posting this. I could not find out how to merge evenly until now. Thanks a bunch.
no a regular door on Foundry, turned upside down/on its side so that it sinks into the object you are trying to merge a bit. On Avalanche, use the energy blockers.
Uh, have you tried placing them right next to each other using a double box or whatever to make sure the taller sides are flush?
Thanks for the wonderful ideas, I truly appreciate it. Well my only problem is merging other objects into the map geometry. So I guess I was clear that to force box's into the ground you have to use another box. So if I want a fence wall into the ground... should I use another fence wall the same way I used the box?
