Thought it was relevant to the thread. Key Lime pie was basically confirmed. It appeared in a doodle by one of the dev team people

By post-ICS I meant including ICS. Basically, I don't word good...

The basic UI changed pretty fundamentally in the shift from GB to ICS, and whilst it has changed since then it hasn't been as drastic. I'd try out Nova and Apex and see if either of them tickle your fancy.

That said, quite a few sources seem to say that JB 4.1 should be out for the S3 on AT&T. Check your version number in the "about phone" section of settings, and if it still says 4.0.4 then try to update it.

Cool, source? They love to tease stuff like that, like having a bowl of Jelly Beans on the table in some press meeting or something before it was announced. Expect a new Android statue for their front lawn to arrive soon.

Its actually been out for a couple months now. Just not as an OTA update. You have been able to upgrade via Samsung Kies for quite some time now. I did mine several weeks ago.

The only real, significant upgrade is the addition of Google Now, which I love. Outside of that, the changes are minimal. Maybe a hair faster, but not incredibly so by any means. Expandable notifications are a thing, but that's about all they are... a thing. Nothing to write home about, and many times I'd rather them be collapsed by default (not an option I can toggle), so that I can gleam many at a time, then clear them all if I so choose, rather than having to scroll through.

Kies is perfectly fine, so long as you are using the right USB cable. If you're using an older cable, you could do some serious damage to your phone, like I did originally. Soft-bricked it twice before I realized what the hell the problem was. But once I did, and had the right cable (the one my phone came with, USB 2.0), the update was scary quick and scary easy.

How the hell did you get hold of a micro USB cable that wasn't USB 2 capable? I don't even...

So I'm reviving this because of the bunch of news Google dropped.

First off, they announced the $35 Chromcast which will stream YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play media content, and also mirror Google Chrome tabs from your various devices (except Blackberry or Windows 8). They also released an SDK so developers could potentially add full mirroring support for various other apps.

Also they announced the new Nexus 7 (which I'm personally excited for since I own the OG version) which is better in just about every way from the original Nexus 7 and still for a great price (a little pricier at $230 for the 16gb model)

The one question I have for anyone that currently has a Nexus device...do any of you have Android 4.3 yet? They said it would be available the same day they made the Nexus 7 announcement but I've yet to get it on my Nexus 7 tablet. 4.3 is available on Google's developer network but that involves completely wiping the device to re-image it.

I don't think Chromecast can currently stream Youtube. I think they've just promised that it will soon. At any rate, a Roku box is still a FAR better option. Or even an Apple TV. The Chromecast is pretty bare bones, right now. It's a poor man's Google TV, and from what I understand, Google TV is pretty much bottom of the barrel in its class.

As for 4.3, its not uncommon for the updates to roll out slowly to all users. I'm sure its on it's way.

According to every advertisement for it and google's site, the chromecast streams youtube. https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=chromecast

Also, again, it's $35. The fact that it only supports 4 things on release is pretty forgivable at that price since the Apple TV is $100 minimun and the roku around that as well. And like I said, Google released an SDK with it allowing developers to expand the chromecast's functionality.

the oldest Roku is still fantastic. It's fast and has all the same channels the newer models do. I know, because I have it. It's $50 w/ free shipping (you can find it cheaper on amazon sometimes, too), and it comes with all these channels.

As of right now, Chromecast is a joke.

Im back to forgehub on my semi annual check in ahaha, I wish that was a joke but I really don't check here much....anywho I had the GS4 and HTC One both for about a month when they came out 2 or 3 months ago. Both probably the two most incredible phones I've ever played with, and that's not just respective of this time. I mean, both the S4 and the One are so far ahead of everything right now it's unbelieveable. Where one phone would excel at one activity the other excels in another area. It was a very difficult choice, especially considering I'm the biggest Samsung fanboy on the block. In the end I went with the One, but Samsung is still #1 in my heart. For anyone looking into either phone there is no wrong option, and there is no way in hell you'll be disappointed with either. Both INCREDIBLE devices.
