    [REMAKE] Foundation 1.2 -

There's nothing quite like recreating a map you know and love. For those of you who don't know, Foundation was a classic Halo 2 multiplayer map, and was (still is) one of the greatest SWAT maps of all time.

*Update: Flooring changed from Coliseum Walls to Stunt Ramps.

*Update: Flooring adjusted for aesthetic reasons.

Foundation is a symmetrical map with two levels; a lower center area and a raised walkway around the edge. There are rooms jutting from the corners of the upper walkway. The proportioned all-around tiers converge on all sides of one another, making a "circle" from a Bird's Eye view.

    Weapons on Map
    1x Sword [NA/120s]
    2x BRs [1 Spare Clip/60s]
    2x Rockets [0 Spare Clips/120s]
    2x Shotguns [0 Spare Clips/90s]

"Deep in Chicago Industrial Zone 08 lies the decommissioned Tactical Autonomous Robotic Defense System testing facility."

Throughout the forging process I spent significant time adjusting (and re-adjusting) the scaling of the map. As with all remakes, it was difficult capturing the essence of the original map while tweaking the scale of the map to support the new Halo 4 game mechanics (aka Sprint).

If you have the budget or piece-count available still, I would advice replacing the Colosseum Walls that you're using as the floor with either a bunch of 4x4 Flats, 5x5 Flats, and/or upside-down Stunt Ramps to help avoid the little hiccup that occurs when moving over the points where the Colosseum Walls intersect.

it looks like an interesting interpretation or re-imagining of foundation, so that's good. It's not exactly the same as original, but there's nothing wrong with that per se. Plus, others have already done that, so doing something different w/ yours is a good idea.

only criticism I have at this point is the location choice. that side of the ravine doesn't cast lighting on most of your map. It would certainly look better if reconstructed on the opposite side...

    I don't remember posting Foundation...
    I don't remember this place.
    Wai..
    Akward.

Haha. It looks great, that is one thing I can say for sure. The two that have commented before me have great advice, and I agree. I can't see much more though. It looks great, that is one thing you got in your pocket.
Great to see another member coming back, Forgehub is still in a sort of.. Unactive state. We need to recover somehow, people like you make it happen.
Glad to be back Hydrolysis? I am interested in what you are going to bring.

Thanks for the feedback! I knew from forging in Reach that using Colosseum Walls as flooring poses issues with gameplay; however, I was out of blocks, so I thought it was my only possibility! Didn't even think about using Stunt Ramps! It turns out I DID have the budget, so I went ahead and made the changes! Great tip!

Haha, I actually originally chose to build on the shadowy side of the Ravine BECAUSE of the lighting! I thought that the dynamic lighting may cause frame-rate issues (as I've seen in other forge maps) and wanted to avoid that as an issue! But in the future, if lighting proves to not affect gameplay significantly, I'll build in the sunny areas of the map!

Thanks man, it's good to be back! It was disappointing that it took 343 SO long to fix the issues with File Sharing! But I'm glad that they finally resolved the issue. I'm looking forward to seeing forge creations in the future as we improve as a community!

Personally, I think you should change the floor back to wall coliseums or at least mix them in with the ramps because I think it makes the map look pretty ugly because of the texture. If you only have enough budget for the ramps then its ok but you should at least try to break the texture up a little. Other than that good job

Thanks for the feedback mna, I went ahead and updated the flooring of the lower level to be more visually pleasing like you suggested. New pics are up now too!

It's nice to see someone else who listens to feedback and makes changes to their map, which are often for the better.

Like JKaddict mentioned, there have been many other Foundation remakes before this. However, with yours you have put in the effort to try and make it work the best it can with Halo 4's mechanics, so kudos to you for being more original.

All in all, I like what I see.

Thanks man. Listening to feedback from the community seems like a no-brainer to me. Getting additional input on how to improve your map is a vital part of creating a map (in my opinion). Especially since it's the community we are ultimately trying to please with our maps...

I've looked at a lot of the other recreations of Foundation that have been posted on ForgeHub...and in my honest (and completely unbiased) opinion this version is the most accurate in scaling (maybe not aesthetically) to the original.

Anyway, I'm glad that you like it!

I played a foundation remake on Team Fortress 2 the other day. I don't know why someone made it at all in that game.
