Welcome to the Forge Games! The Forge Games is technically a forge game show where 8 forgers are pitted against one another. They compete through a series of competitive challenges and forge competitions to determine who is the best forger. Each episode one forger is voted off until only one remains. Until now, the forgers were divided into two teams, however with only 4 players left - the teams disolved making the games enter a free for all stage. If you want to get cought up with the Forge Games before watching this episode, a list of previous episodes can be found here.

Not to be rude, but I don't feel like this belongs here. Sure it's a forge video, but what makes it announcement-worthy?

What's not announcement worthy? It's an elimination show based on forge with some of peoples favorite forgers. Haha. If user made maps, screenshots and staff made contsts get featured I think something like this shouldn't be looked over.

I guess I'm overreacting. It'd fit perfectly in the Forgecast forum, if we still had it.

I have to agree with Cluck here.
Look, I get that the site is in desperate need for content, but in my eyes this feels like a shameless advertisement of Pokephile's YouTube channel.
    Why?
Well for starters, this is episode 5. Why not post episode 1, and if viewers enjoyed that then they would follow through with the rest.

Anyway, complaints aside, this is a fantastic idea.
    Albeit a little complex.

What I would like to see though is a 'new season' of this show that engages the community members here.
This is a great contest idea, and it shouldn't have been thrown on the front page like this.
There may not be many active members left in the community but the ones who are would have jumped at the opportunity to do something like this and it would have been great for rebuilding a little community infrastructure as Hubbers old and new rooted for their favorite competitor.

When I started this series, it wasn't intended to be a Forge Hub exclusive thing, though that doesn't mean I don't want to involve the community. I'd love to have some sort of community involvement with it, the thing though is practicality. If I had people (the viewers) vote on which map they liked the best - I wouldn't have the results until the following episode, which would in break the entertainment value of it. (Having to wait until the next episode for the winner would not only be less entertaining but it would also screw up the elimination process) It would also be way more work for me, as it is - one episode takes roughly 3 weeks to make (shooting, editing, scheduling, etc).

Point being: I'd love to have more community involvement, I have plans for it in future episodes this season - but I can't do it extensively.

As for it being a front page post - here's my thoughts on that:

Front page posts don't get that many views in total (maybe a couple hundred or so, thousand tops) so it's not really that beneficial for me. I talked it over with the other staff and thought "Why not?" How is posting this going to have a negative effect? It's not - it's going to hopefully entertain some people for 25 minuets or so. That's not a bad thing at all, so whats the big deal? Sitting inactive and not producing content for the front page is one of the reasons the website is dying. In my opinion Forge Hub needs to get away from that mindset, it's detrimental.

Fair enough, but at least post the first episode.
Starting with the fifth episode here alienates people who may otherwise follow it from the beginning.

And as far as it being too much work for you, you are working with a staff now.
Find ways to delegate that work where you can.
And as far as community involvement goes I mean get community members to compete.
The elimination process can be as arbitrary as you'd like it to be. All I'm saying is that it would be nice to see active FH forgers on the show than people we (or at least I) have never heard of.

All I'm saying is that something like this could be hugely beneficial to rebuilding some foundation to this community.

I really think this is announcement worthy. Besides that, I can't see Mr Pokephile as the person that only wants to advertise his series and channel here, I don't think that was the idea of posting this.

The people in these videos are known to me, I think to a large array of us here, they are known. Blaze is a Forgehub member too. Sure, we haven't seen the rest on Forgehub, or they have a account but don't use it. The point is, right now, we can't just throw new contestants in because the contestants get chosen at the begin of The Forge Games. I would be awesome to see some other people, like you said, for example some of FH. But this round/season, first has to end. I don't know if after that a new one begins.

Community involvement is exactly what Organite says though, the Community (obviously) gets involved with this. Meaning that they compete or judge as one of the guests. You could also have several judges at the later stages, so now, and then you have a more votes. That is certainly something I like to see.

Now, the vote depends on one person, and that is great, but more judges would be something I (personally) like to see. And that can surely be very beneficial for rebuilding the foundation for this community as Organite says.
But you really need to post all the episodes, that might be best.

This was a great episode, Poke. I loved the new format to the match at the start. The commentary didn't work for me, the in game voice was definitely a lot more entertaining.

Since quite a few Flood maps have come out of the last two episodes, I'll be hosting a BIOC lobby so I can play them all. I'm intrigued to see how they play.

I hope to see some competitive goodness or even some mini games in the next episode!
