'm happy to announce my third, and maybe the best competitive map (in my opinion) i've made. Exidus is a small map perfect for CTF and 4v4 slayer, you can play it with more but 4v4 is recommended. It's a symmetrical map and I build it again in an octagon shape, because I think that works great. I wanted to let the map easy to understand how it works, and that's why I made it very open so you have a clear sight, and I made the ''buildings'' easy. Because of this I think this is a really good competitive map. There are Red and Blue bases, a large aesthetic building in the middle from where you can reach the whole map. Around the middle there are 2 walkways on the side that give some hight to the map. I've changed some things on the map, it's now called Exidus V1. I've changed and removed some things so players have better sight and the map is more open.
After I played a match with Zandrill we saw that there were some things that needed to be changes, like it's to open on some spaces. I've changed some things again and made it less open. There were also some problems with the lightning and I fixed that also in this V2 version. And as last I changed the sniper to the railgun. Hopefully you want to play it again, I will get my new mic this week and then it some easier to communicate, sorry about that
hey man i played one of the older versions...will just fire up my xbox now and have a looksie at the updated version for ya...i liked the old one...for some reason i thought there was an underpass below top middle. but it would require a lot of fiddling to put a small pit in underneath the top middle because of your flooring having coliseum walls. which is fine! just a thought. also on th older version i thought the corridor where the scattershot was going to be easier to see down, but that was because i assumed there was a sniper on tht side. then i came across the scattershot and decided that it didnt need to be a straight corridor. ill just have another look now and see if its in need of any other feedback for ya
also your profile link doesnt work for me...where is Exidus v2? i have a few ideas going back through v1. maybe we can jump online together and chat through wat i have in mind on say sunday? i live in Aus and im free from 10am-4pm my time. wbu?
I've changed the original post to the right link and changed the sniper to rail gun. Yeah I'd love toplay it with you, the only problem is that I will be away for the whole week after tomorrow. I will be back on the 9th, just send me a friend request (FaNeNL) and after the 9th I hope we can make an "appointment" so we can play together. Btw i'd like to make an appointment with everyone who wants to play the map, for a 4v4 ctf, hopefully I can arange that. It would be awesome! So i'll see you in a week!
In the original post, you say that this map can work with up to 12 players. I don't agree with this. After playing on this map with you and Hiccup, I think it'll only work well with up to 4 or 5 players.
Well I think that 12 people on the map is possible but it would be very full. 4v4 is the perfect team sizes that's why I did put Exodus in the 4v4 categorie on forgecafe. Btw are you a member on every forgesite, cause you answer on every site I've put this map on
I'm a member of a LOT of forge sites. I don't know if there are any others that I'm not a member on though.
I think I know what Zandril means when he said the map is too open; I think you may have fixed it in a "lazy" manner, so to speak. Your bottom floor is entirely flat, which means that there are a lot of long lines of sight along the bottom floor. You have rocks in the middle of your courtyards blocking some of the lines of sight, but this is only a patch up to the problem, because the little rocks only block a little of the LoS whereas the floor is flat everywhere. In terms of fixes for this, I would suggest looking at Relay, the Impact on disc forge map, and Dispatch, the improved variant made by SaLoT that is currently in matchmaking (try Team Doubles if you haven't seen it already, it shows up fairly often) and that has a bottom floor with height variation. I'd compare the lines of sight on the bottom levels of the map with each other and with this map. The improved bottom floor is a big part of the reason that Dispatch, rather than Relay, is in Matchmaking right now.. Hopefully you've played on Dispatch and can understand my example, but if not, I do really advise trying it out. I promise you that you won't regret spending that time.
Thanks SpinCycle for your feedback, it was such a good help. I know made my 3th version of the map, I completely changed the floor to give height variation and also made the map so there would be less long lines of visibility. The map looks in my opinion much smoother and better because of the variation. Thanks again, please take a look at the map and hopefully you like it. BTW I changed the original screenshots to the most updated version!
Original post has been updated with the good link to the map on my fileshare. And updated the first picture and the overview screenshot
Oh O-O I thought there were 2 binaries for a second there until I realized that they were the wrong icons!
