    Gimp

This is a tutorial on the basics of GIMP.

    1. What is the GIMP?

The GIMP is an image manipulation program that was developed for the people that didn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money.

    2. Where can I find this nifty program?

You can find the GIMP here: Download GIMP

These are the steps for setting up the GIMP.

    1. Visit this site: KD Brush Pack

    2. After downloading these brushes, open the "start" menu and click "my computer." Click on "local Disk," then scroll down to "program files," and click it. Then find "GIMP 2.0." Click on this folder, then click "share." Now click "GIMP," then click "2.0," and last, click on the brushes folder. Insert the files you download that look like dogs into the brushes folder. After you have done this, open GIMP, open the brush selection window, and click the brush icon in the lower right of the brush selection window. Press the refresh button, and wallah! You have your new brushes.

To make a successful background, fill the entire area with the primary color that you want. Then select various brushes to use. Experiment with color and placement, as this is your image, get creative.

To add in an image, or "render," simply select the "cut" tool. If you click once, a dot should appear where you clicked. Click again somewhere on the OUTLINE of the image you would like to render. Do this until you have a full outline. Then click in the center. A "marching ants" dotted line should appear around your image. Right click in the same spot and select "Copy."
Then right click on your background in the other window and click "Paste." You can now shrink/move your image around your background with the "scale" and "move" tools.

Select the font you would like your name in. Visit dafont.com for the best fonts.

    Have fun with the GIMP!
