Hey everyone! It's time for another quick Map Preview. Today I'm giving you a sneak peek of one of a couple maps I'm currently working on. As expected, this is a Flood map, but it's different than anything else I've made so far. It's only in its Alpha stage and not even ready for testing yet, but I think that I have enough certainty about the overall layout to be able to provide this preview. Some of you may be able to figure what (kind of) map this is by just this one picture... the others will have to wait for me to post more in the future. Feel free to speculate down below.
basically, a figure eight racetrack? That is what I gleaned from the picture. Not exactly the most unique idea if that is it, but it depends on how it is done as well.
Baring in mind that it is a Flood map, how is it not unique? I for one have never seen a Flood map with this kind of theme. EDIT: Holy poop, 1000th post! <3
Don't worry, I can do better than just a figure eight... In fact, I only showed a tiny bit of the map in this picture.
this is neat. I didn't figure it was a figure eight. I just assumed a highway of some sort. Flood map with a highway fixed with exit-signs. Aesthetics point toward and urban setting.
Flood racing?... Running failed so we flee from flood on our mongeese throughout the city on this highway. Cuz flood run really fast?...
See, THAT is much better than a figure eight. I like it. Figure eights are overused in layouts so something this complex is a nice change of pace.
I tried to implement elevation for several reasons: so it's more fun to go up and down on curvy roads, so you have more opportunities for warthog jumps (there are some on the map, most of them serve as quick accesses back onto the track if you happened to fall off) and so the road itself can serve as a sightline blocker. I would have preferred to use some rolling hills, but since we don't get those on Forge Island I had to make landscape relief myself using the roads. If anyone of you would like to help me with my first test on this map during this upcoming weekend, that would be much appreciated!
Thought this would be a figure eight. I stand (or sit) corrected. That looks super clean and smooth. Can't wait to play on this.
It's pretty smooth, though not too much considering the fact that the map takes place after some kind of zombie apocalyptic event. But smooth enough to have clean driving, don't worry. Anyone who wants to help me test can also sign up over here, I'm hosting a BIOC lobby next Sunday at 1pm EST: [May 19, 2013] BIOC Lobby - "On the Road" (REMKings) | Halo Customs
Thanks to everyone for helping me test this map in my lobby yesterday. I'm glad that everyone had such a good time even though it was only the second test! I'll try to post some more screenshots soon.
I played this in one of your lobbies a couple of weeks ago, I can say this, if you respawn as a flood, you are out of luck thinking you can chase any one of the vehicles down! It was a fun map to be sure.
That was fixed in the 2nd version, you are now able to keep up for at least a good amount of time (without getting shot of course). @NlBBS: I'll put up some pictures AND a DL later today. @Elliot: They have a good amount of health and 300% speed plus unlimited sprint. Sounds like it would be ridiculously fast, but it really isn't.
I imagine that is perfect. I'm sick of playing all those crappy Warthog chase maps so this is going to be a refreshing change.
