This is a map that is pretty old and I think posted it in the testers guild. I am just posting this to get some general feed back as to what I should change. The power weapons are a PV (purple tower), a railgun (LL of red flag) and a beam rifle (LL of blue flag). So far it plays 4v4 team slayer, 4v4 CTF, and multi team for 6 teams of 2 (that is just for fun, it hasn't been tested and probably won't be any good). It is meant to be palyed with BR and pistol starts, no AA's, and no ordinance. From what I've played I think it is pretty fun but I'd like you guys to check it out. The jump ups to purple tower (struts) have been replaced with ramps. I also raised the area by the plasma pistols to break up lines of sight and to allow getting to the rooftops easier. Any feedback will be appreciated EDIT: I updated the map a little. Rockets now spawn where the PV used to and the other two power weapons were replaced with a Speed Boost and and Overshield
If you post more images you'll probably get more feedback. Can't really tell all that's going on from just an over-view image. -Hydrolysis
I agree with Hydro, with more pics i could give more feedback. However, I am STRONGLY against a beamrifle given to one team and only a railgun to the other. I say this because the beam rifle is a much more deadly weapon. Farther range, higher accuracy, more ammo, and the noscope doesn't take much skill. When making symmetrical maps i'd make the power weapons symmetrical as well. As it stands, the red team is at a rather large disadvantage in my opinion. With the BR starts and their inconsistency at a far range, the beam rifle would be tough to challenge, where the railgun isn't going to be as accurate at the distance you can challenge it with the BR. In my opinion (feel free to disagree), opposing snipers would be fine. Beam rifles have less of a skillgap with their quick bursts and uber bullet magnetism, which I feel takes from the gameplay. Whatever weapon you decide to place, make sure both teams have the same one.
I chose the beam rifle because I wanted to use ordinance drops and I feel like the sniper had too much ammunition. As for which team gets which weapon, all three power weapons (beam rifle, railgun, and PV) are neutral. The players spawn in their bases, not by their flags so each has an equal chance of getting each weapon. Sorry for not specifying the spawns
Next time I get on xbox I will put the screenshots in my file share. I thought I already had but I must have deleted them
This map looks hardly big enough for a beam rifle and rail gun. I'd rather see ONE rush in dead center (rockets, saw, fuel rod, sword etc.) and minor close quarters weapons around the ring (ie- needler, scattershot, sticky detonator)
I know it may look small but there are limited sightlines cross map which balances them out a little but I will try different weapons and see what works best. Thanks for the feedback
I just changed the weapon layout around. I haven't play tested the change yet but if you want to you can check it out
in the image above you have some lines that do not look so good. if you want to clean it up a bit and remove some eyesores, try to take the 5x5s on the right and make them show the lines along the direction of travel, like what is done on the left side of the image. Then, make all of the 5x5s used as walls stand so they show the lines going up. generally speaking, it is best looking to make things going up have vertical lines and those things going across have horizontal lines, to help with visual cues, orientation and just plain old visual noise reduction. Good luck, it looks like a decent layout and decently forged.
