I decided before I do any larger maps in response to Periculum Canyon that I would try a shot at getting a much better 1v1 into effect.

So, in the space of just one day and with no planning, I reveal Redime, Latin for Redeem, a symettrical 1v1/2v2/FFA map.

    Heres the screenies:

Redime is orginally started off without a plan on paper, though I did have a general idea of what to build it like, I did some changes halfway through forging it thinking it would be better off overall.

    Weapons:
DMRs, BRs, LRs, Carbines: 30 seconds, 0 clips
ARs, StRs and Suprs: 30 seconds, 2 clips.
Incinination Cannon: 180 seconds, 0 clips.
    Sticky Detonator: 120 seconds, 2 clips. 2X
    Energy Sword: 100-120 seconds
Frags, 2x Plasmas and 2x Pulse.

So far as usual, its only set up for slayer at the moment, but if the map seems good I will add more gametypes.
Hopefully this will be a good map to play on and require only a few minor changes, even though my budget is pretty decent at the moment. The reason being is that this will likely be my last map until early June due to exams.

So, let me know if you want to test it and feel free to offer advice and suggestions. I might have already noticed some proberlems so just confirm them.

Anyways, the map is on my file share and make sure to use the Wolf's Slayer gametypes as this is what the map is optimised for.

    Cheers
    Wolf

Wait, what's the difference between this map and the Impact one we played not too long ago? They look super similar..

dont use rotation snap on rocks, especially the large ones, they snap ~5° off of the normal objects. You can see it good on the rock 5 on the left side of the first picture. Other than that I dont mind what youve got going here.

@Spin: I admit part of this map was inspired from Utopia.
@Aschur: I actually didn't use rotation snap on the rocks actually lol.

Look at weapon choice. Incineration Cannon is never a good idea on 1v1 maps. It's almost a guaranteed kill per shot, which most frown upon in 1v1's. Sword may also be a little much. Layout looks alright, though nothing is really making me want to get on and see the map in person. It's a nice design, but boring to look at. Tiny and symmetrical. I've seen this before.

Nothing bad, it's just not getting my attention. There are a ton of other small maps that have a ton of character, this reads to have none of that. I'll be the first to say that my own maps are very geometric and boring, but try to mix up this design with asymmetrical elements and see what you can do. I'm sure that would help. Just be sure that no one spot is overbearing.

Right I might swap the IC around for something else though.

To be honest Im surprised that the map seems to lack character as you said, I will try some assymetricity next and try and add something to make it look more Intresting.

You have a decent and somewhat compelling setting, with rock and metal coming together and such, but the layout is dull and expectable. Like I said, what you have is fine, I'm just convinced it can be so much better.
