Hey everyone, what's up? Been a lurker here for quite a long time, but finally decided to post. Some things you should know about me: I've been a halo fan since I first got my original xbox. Over the course of my xbox career I have made about 8 halo montages from various games. I played halo 2 religiously on xbox live. When halo 3 came out initially I did not care for it, but eventually grew to love it and played it very often. I didn't really get into forging too much in halo 3, but I did like to experiment with it and made a few maps. I stopped playing halo 3 altogether when rock band came out and played that nonstop for quite awhile, only playing halo 3 once in awhile. I got back into it again before Reach came out, and then began playing Reach once it was released. I really fell in love with forge in reach, but didn't really have any maps to show for it. I absolutely loved playing the puzzle maps people made, and tried making some by myself, though none were very good. I eventually stopped playing Reach (or xbox) all together about a year ago, but briefly played when Halo 4 came out. I rented it from gamefly the day it came out (they were offering a 1 month trial for free) and after I returned it I never played again. I hadn't even touched forge in it in my period of renting it, but recently rerented it to try the forge mode with the release of Forge Island. I truely like the forging aspect of the games now more so than the competitive side (maybe because I don't have as much time to play as I used to), I've decided that with my tax return I am going to buy Halo 4 and an xbox live membership and start forging and attempt to make some puzzle maps in Halo 4, and figured there was no better place to get ideas, feedback, and testing from forgehub. I hope to be an active member of the community, and look forward to learning how to forge better.
Hello there good sir, welcome to the wonderful world of Froghub. If you want good tips on forging, the Frogcast forum would be a good place, there's lots of info and tips from some of the most celebrated forgers in there.
Thanks for the warm welcome, I'll be sure to check that out. I'm still kinda new to forging on H4 and am trying to figure out puzzle tricks.
hey there! Glad to see a new face around these parts, I hope to see you around. If you need help testing, you should check out the Community Customs area, you can host or join games there. It's a rather convenient spot if I do say so myself. As for learning good map design, start by researching known good maps of the sort that you want to make. That's what I did to start when i first joined as a bright eyed nooblet. Welcome to Forgehub. If you have any questions, talk to me or anyone else in the staff (red, yellow, or orange names).
Thanks, I just ordered my Xbox live subscription and halo 4 from amazon, so I will certainly check that out. I am very interested in puzzle maps, but it seems as though there aren't very many on halo 4. Are they not as popular as they used to be? And I also have a puzzle map nearly finished on reach, but as reach isn't popular anymore do you think it is even worth posting when I finish?
Puzzles in Halo 4 simply havent really been focused on. I'm sure if you make a cool one, it will be looked at uniquely. As for the reach map, I don't see why you shouldn't post it. It may not be as focused on as the Halo 4 section, but I'm sure it would be interesting to see what you've done.
Alright thanks, I'll post it when I'm done. On a side not, is your username based on the Rise Against song?
You're my new favorite newbie. Nice catch. Most people think it's something about a phone spelled "fone".
Holy ****, how did I never think of that before.... Also, hi Nit3vision, I'm Dax. Puzzle maps you say? I agree that they aren't as popular as they used to be back in the good ole days. Hmmm, I might want to try my hand at one now as well...
Rise Against used to be my favorite band back in high school, listened to them all the time. I kinda feel like listening to them again now. Thanks for the warm welcome. And that would be cool, I always love a good puzzle map and would love to see them become popular again in H4.
