    Map Description
    This is my remake of Burial Mounds from Halo 2. It is a medium-sized, asymmetrical map, ideal for 4v4 sniper and objective gametypes. My intent in making this map was to make it as close to scale as possible while incorporating as much of the Ravine's natural terrain as I could. Halo 2 was used to ensure that this would be a faithful remake.

    Weapon placement is the same as the original. I also have a classic/throwback version with no ordnance drops, with all weapons having Halo 2 spawn times. The classic/throwback version is simply titled "Burial Mounds."

    Multiple teams (up to 8) are supported. As with most of Halo 4... served best without split-screen. With the inclusion of sprint, this map works well even for 2v2.

    This map has been fun but also very challenging to recreate. I hope you guys enjoy using this for your custom games. Please feel free to test this and give me your feedback, and I will continue improving on it as often as I am able. As improvements are made to the map, I will be uploading newer versions of the map to my file share, so I would recommend checking the date in the description to ensure that you get the most accurate version.

    Hey man, looking better and better. Congrats on top 10ing in fhft3 - considering the map wasn't quite finished at the time shows the appreciation deserved for your results on such a difficult undertaking as remaking a map like this. It's a tough one that I wouldn't have even attempted.

    Since you still say you're open to modifications, I have one more suggestion. Basically, you need a safe zone. It's really easy to escape with a jet pack and make it over to the grassy field adjacent to the map, if you play with people who like to do that kind of thing [-avoids eye contact-].

    The safe zone should cover the entire intended playspace, and then use kill zones to "carve out" the spots where the safe zone goes outside the intended playspace.

    So good. A real joy to see this map return, I'm sure it'll receive a cult following. Can't wait to get some objective going on here with a decent size custom party.

    Thanks guys. Indie Anthias, thank you for the suggestion. As long as I'm still playing Halo 4, I'm always open to making improvements to the map. Speaking of which, my file share has been updated to include the safe zone and modified kill zones on both maps to prevent jetpack exploits.

    Also, before you brought it up... I had no idea I had made the top 10! I looked it up and saw that you did as well. Congrats!

    Wait, the fileshare thing is working now?

    Also, easily the best Burial Mounds on Forgehub despite you still not changing the rib cage, but it's all good!

    Thanks Yama! Please let me know how objective games play on it if you get the chance to try it out. It wasn't too long ago that I added support for every gametype (minus Dominion), so I'm hoping everything works well with a decent-sized group. So far I've only been able to test the different gametypes by myself... lol

    Have you had a chance to work on spawning yet? That's the only thing that's really holding this map back IMO. Otherwise it's fantastic.

    Yes, I had updated it a few days ago, so spawning should no longer be an issue.

    And this is weird, and I haven't heard of this before... but while I was putting down spawns, I actually got to the point where I still had enough budget left, but forge simply wouldn't allow me to spawn any more objects (spawns included).

    Nevertheless, I got to test the updated map with a few people the other day, and team slayer played very well. :)

    Yeah, there's an invisible total item count limit, I usually bump into that too by the time finishing up.

    Fragstur, just curious, did you ever get a chance to try the latest version of the map? And by the way, if anyone finds any problems with the map, please feel free to let me know and I'll continue to improve the map for you guys.

    If time and budget allow for it, I may be updating the map to include support for Dominion. We shall see...

    Fraid not sorry. I had a spot lined up in a lobby but the host lagged out and some squeakers hijacked it to play slender. wooo. :/ It's still on my short list though.

    It does look like a great remake and i think this is one of the hardest map to recreate, due to the original relief. I'll try it tonight ! ;)

    Thanks. I would recommend checking out the latest version of the map in my fileshare, as the pictures are VERY out of date at this point (not sure when I'll be updating the pics; perhaps soon). I hope that you might get to download it and let me know what you think.

    If there is a significant demand for this map to be remade on Forge Island, and if people really don't think this map is adequate anymore, I may or may not get around to remaking this map again. Really it depends on the demand, as I don't necessarily want to start this all over again if hardly anyone is going to enjoy using it for customs.

    So whoever is interested in a re-remake, please speak up. Otherwise, I will take it to mean that this version is adequate.

    But of course, I would love to play some customs on a Forge Island version of Burial Mounds, especially if it's better than my Ravine version.

    it's up to you man. I was just thinking it might be a little better on Forge Island because there are more rock pieces. But i'm not going to ask you to spend time on something just to find out. If you're inspired to do it, fine. If not, I'm sure we can get by with this one, which has received a lot of compliments.

    btw, I'm always down for some good custums, so add me up if you want.

    I downloaded the map and explored it on forge. The look is great, and i think that this map would be fully playable with a bomb or a 1 flag mode, which cruely miss in Halo 4. Otherwise, i wasn't able to test it with friends because we were trying my new map, but I will definitely try to put this map tomorrow. I think that I'm going to create a "Halo 2" mode with the Assault Rifle or the BR at initial spawn. As soon as I try your map, you'll know my feelings about it in this thread.

    Also, I think this could be look terrific on Forge Island with the new rocks and trees, but i also think that you will have a hard time trying to recreate the relief, which made this map unique and created the paths we used to walk on in Halo 2.

    I will try it with my friend, and tell you if it worths the re-remake, as the gameplay totally differs between H2 and H4.

    Oh, this is gorgeous! I don't think I've seen such an accurate looking remake of this.

    In retrospect, I may have played on an older version of this one, but if so, it looks like you really dug into it and made it shine. You've got my download.
