Original post found HERE *As some of you know, a discussion is going on in another forum, whether midship would be a good remake or not, heres the update* __________________________________________________ Halo 2's Midship is a map in which things really fall into place. It has several fundamental attributes that contribute to a great multiplayer shooter map, such as symmetry, circularity, and a general structure that doesn't lend itself to camping or excessive fortification. In Halo 2, it is exceedingly rare that one map works well for several gametypes, but Midship provided an exciting, balanced match in FFA, Team Slayer, Oddball, Neutral Bomb, and Capture the Flag—a true testament to the quality of its design. In Halo 2, team-shooting was the key to controlling a map and winning battles, and Midship was just the right size so that you could help out your teammates in a gunfight from almost anywhere. Add these factors together and you end up with a masterfully designed map that remains fresh after even thousands of games. How would Midship translate to Halo 3? Perfectly. With weapons in Halo 3 being very comparable to Halo 2, the cross-map and team shooting with the battle rifle would be nearly the same. With the ability to change spawn points and optimize weapon placements, Midship could be made even better than it is in Halo 2. The ability to Forge the map would open it up to new strategies and require teams to alter how they played the map in Halo 2. Lastly, the new and improved shotgun could play a much more significant roll, especially when guarding Pink 2. Positives: *Halo 3's void in arena maps will finally be filled. *It's an extremely versatile map where practically all game variants work great. *MLG will finally be able to start up their FFA circuit with the map that started it all. Honestly, MLG wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for Halo 2's Midship. *Midship is a very requested map for Halo 3 and it was the second most played map in Halo 2 customs, Lockout being number 1. Less important positives: *There are no real hardcore covenant based maps like Midship or Gemini in Halo 3, this would fill that small void. Negatives: I honestly cannot think of any negatives to remaking Midship. I don't want this to look biased so if anyone can think of any concrete reasons as to why Bungie should not remake Midship for Halo 3 please tell me.
Y35, I don't understand why you feel it vital to quote from Bugnie.net all the time. It's kind of anoying but anyway... Also this has already been quoted, well something along these lines. Midship was a great map and of course would fill the gap Halo3 has in arena maps, which in my opinion was Halo3's downfall when it came to Multiplayer. Halo2 seemed to be much more popular. Of course, I would love to see Midship in Halo3, just like Blackout was pretty much a direct port, I would like to see the equivilent. I can't see it happening to be honest... Unfortunately but anyway... I guess for arena maps we will have to stick with forge and our half assed arena maps we were given in Halo3... I personally love MLG settings nad having Midship would be a great addition to that aspect of Halo. MLG settings remind me of Halo2 more then the default settings in Halo3, especially with the OS powerup, and the speed of gameplay. We can always wish but Bungie are trying to satisfy everyone, and half of the peopel don't want remakes. Bungie did however seem to realise they messed up with the maps packaged with Halo3 seeing how our DLC's have given us some Arena maps, well closer to the stlye of Arena maps we had in Halo2 Once again I'm starting to drift off topic so that will do me =P EDIT: Noticed you were the one who posted the other Midship remake thread, all you've done is quoted a re-worded thread of basically the same subject.
