Hello again everyone. Today I am here to present my second completed Halo 4 map: Skydock! For those who aren't already familiar with the map, Skydock is an asymmetrical 4v4 map designed to play with a multitude of game modes. The map is heavily inspired by my Reach creation Cargo Port, but is merely a reimagination, not a remake. Skydock's design is vastly superior, and is of course designed with Halo 4's gameplay in mind. An overview shot: A look at Blue Base from Ocean Side: A look towards Top Red from Blue Bridge: A look at Bravo Platform: Skydock's design is highly asymmetrical. The map incorporates a lot of verticallity, with Red Side being higher up than Blue Side. This verticallity goes hand in hand with sightline design and power weapon distribution. Sightlines are long, but strictly controlled, Risk is heavily factored into the location of weapons. Players must stay on their toes to avoid falling to their doom. "Skydock" (Competitive) - YouTube Like Cargo Port, Skydock is designed to support all game modes. 4v4 Team Slayer, One Flag CTF, Extraction and 6v6 Dominion are recommended. Flood, Multi Team, and of course Omar the Spaceman (see video above) are loads of fun as well. Watch out for the banshee in Slayer and Dominion! Thanks to all of my testers, as well as everyone who helped test the original Cargo Port back in the day (basically everyone on the site). View along Top Red: A look from the dangerous Railgun spawn: A look at Sniper spawn: Thanks for reading, everyone! The map can be found on my file share (The Psycho Duck) and the One Flag game mode can be found on Flying Shoe ILR's file share.
This map's been a lot of fun duck. Normally I'm not a big 4 v 4 guy but the asymmetry and cray height variation of both this and the original Cargo Port draw me in, though I have to say this plays better than Cargo Port (lol, Invasion Cargo Port.) I've been glad to help test this over the past month or two, glad to see you finally found the best way to make this concept work!
Thanks Shoe! Yes, lol at invasion Cargo Port, but that was all a hell of a lot of fun back in the day no matter how poorly designed it was. I think Skydock really is the best way to make the concept work (only took me three tries haha!), and I had a lot of fun on here. We'll see if I make some more cool asym 4v4s in the future (hell, maybe Symphony?). I wanna see people playing 8v8 one flag on here at TGIF just like old times!
As usual you delivered an Amazing map here duck mah boy. It looks Clean and well kept, Though i have to say have i played it? It seems familiar or have i played an old version? Either way very well done.
You truly are one of the communities top forgers, and it shows in this map! I've been playing on your forge maps since Reach and I've definitely seen you grow a lot as a forger. I love your use of the Col Walls! They make the map feel larger and assist in the vertical scale of the map during gameplay. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get enough people together to play a full game of 6v6, but after giving the map a play through the only thing that stood out to me was the "cat-walk" (The bridge to the far right of the attacker's spawn). It gives players a massive LoS while at the same time provides cover, giving players a distinct advantage during gameplay. I think this problem can easily be resolved by minimizing the cover along the cat-walk, keeping players more exposed and less likely to camp in that position. Anyways, overall this is another great map man! Looking forward to the maps yet to come!
This looks like a very well done map. I will give it a download tonight. I had seen this map in your risk vs reward video and was anticipating the release. Looks great!
